Disclosure
I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am not a member of the Tea Party. I am an Independent who does not belong to the Independent party. I write this book as a grandfather. Like many Americans, I am most interested in the issues at hand. The current issues are jobs and the fact that government is not working.
Parts of this book are excerpts from A Return to Wisdom by D. Chaffee (Publish America 2009).

How does one person write to the President and Congress? How do you write to other Americans? I am not sure. I think you just begin.
For the first time in my life, I am very worried about the future of our children and grandchildren. We are responsible for this situation. It was not deliberate on our part, but it was both foreseeable and preventable. We are drowning in DEBT at the same time we have high unemployment. Our Government is ineffective. It has a low rating and does not seem to be able to get anything done because everyone, all these representatives who are very good people, honestly think their way is right. Or they think they have to do it as it is the expedient thing to get themselves re-elected. This is VERY FRUSTRATING to a grandfather who refuses to believe that my grandchildren cannot have the same opportunities as my generation.
It is our mutual accountability to put America on a solid foundation. It will not be done by slogans like cut taxes
or cut spending.
It needs to be done by the development of a Strategic Plan
for our country. Some taxes need to be cut and some deductions eliminated. Some spending needs to be cut and some investments made. The budget then flows from the Plan. Investments, not spending, need to be made in the Private Sector. Congress does not seem to understand the difference between the two. These investments can be made by the private sector and government together. There are a variety of ways to make these investments if Government and the Private Sector, Democrats and Republicans,
