    T he great California Gold Rush of 1849 is a

    true to life American Historical event! At the time, California wasn’t even a state but that didn’t stop people with great enthusiasm for excitement, adventure, and courage! They also wanted to become rich digging for gold in the New America.

    The event took a toll on the land, as miners would destroy one area, then move to a new area and destroy that area as well. Human rights issues were also tested on foreigners who came to work in the mines, railroads and the fish canneries of California.

    It all began when James W. Marshall discovered gold in Colom California at Sutter’s Mill, which today is Sacramento California. It’s true that although people rushed to San Francisco where most of the early gold seekers conjugated that were coming to California from the east as well as foreigners from different countries.
