Leghorn Faust

Next to nothing is none about this book's author, Leghorn Faust. What is known is he has been in hiding for the last several decades due to threats from the Pangaea Preservation Society, a cultist group that preaches the doctrine of "One Continent, One Earth, One Love."

Someday this book will be dedicated to someone

    Via Storm Clouds

    Celeste

    someone

    a girl

    once told me

    "Your problem

    is that you know

    what you want."

    I wasn’t paying attention

to what she was telling me

    though

    I was too busy

    watching her clothes

ride the curves of her body

    Somewhere, Everywhere

    she’s like rock and roll

    but she don’t look it

    to tell

    you’d have to look

    into her bloodshot eyes

staying up with her all night

    reading in bed

    books by David Sedaris

    while she laid quietly

    hallucinating to herself

    and singing songs

about Jesus Christ in her head

    careful, not to offend

    proving that the only thing

    a girl can do wrong

    is not be herself

we didn’t always have to get naked

in order to have a good time

on those most memorable of occasions

we’d just stay up and talk or argue

about faith, science, rationality and reason

as well as the history of ignorance

    death, dying, the earth

    with its continuously

    shifting tectonic plates

proving once again, that the earth

is just a slight bit older than 6,000 years

and that anyone who will tell you otherwise

    has a religious agenda

    patience, impatience,

the time I got ran over by a car

    provocative album covers

and the great works of the Amish,

    with their furniture

together, her and I would prove

    over and over again

that such close friends of the opposite sex

didn’t always have to get naked

in order to have a great evening in bed

    though it does help sometimes

Insensibilities and A Lack Of Discretion

    the people were reading,

    combing, texting, writing,

    listening to their favorite bands,

    heating coffee beans

    and smacking the scoops

    against the knock box

as music played over the speakers

but no one was paying attention

to any of that in particular

    they were all too self-involved

    in what they were discussing

as a woman said how tired

she was of having to download

    music onto her computer

the guy working the cash register

    did his best to explain

to a girl who had never been there before

    about the differences between

    slow drip and French press

as a girl with a pierced nose

and a butt hiked up too high

in the jeans she was wearing

    spoke to a man in
