INTRODUCTION
T his is my mother’s story, this is our story…
This is what unconditional mother’s love is – this is what civil war does – and this is what the struggle for survival is like. About the Liberian civil conflict that forced us (Mother, younger twin brothers, uncle and I) to exile, when a good and normal life before the conflict took a cruel twist – The crucial role of my mother during the struggle and life in exile.
Being one of the potentially wanted people to be killed, while working as a superintendent in Monrovia, Liberia at Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) in the administration of then, president [Samuel K. Doe] regime; my Father had to separate from us. It sparked fear as my mother and her younger brother had to escape with me and my younger twin brothers to Cote d’Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast). Later, got moved to an orphanage, and plagued by crisis upon crisis.
