The Kid and the Star - E. Astur
Part 1
Chapter 1
THE BEGINNING
O nce upon a time, in a place that I can’t remember the name, was a kid who loved the Sky and to watch the stars, and the clouds, and the moon and the sun. He believed the Sky was the only thing in the whole universe that could understand him, and his only friend. He believed the Sky was sending him a message, and the kid started listening to it.
One night he felt like a Star was telling him to follow it, and to leave everything else in his life behind, including his home and family. The Star told Him that he will go to faraway places and he will meet a very special friend and she will help him to reach his dreams. The Star didn’t lie to him, It warned him that it will be many obstacles in the way and he will find dangers never before seen or imagined until that day. The kid was excited and confused for everything that was happening. And even all he wanted was promised by the Star, he couldn’t avoid a feeling of a natural fear of the unknown (and what the Star was telling about dangers) and after an impulse to follow that Star, he thought that may be it was better if he continued with his old life.
In the next morning something unexpected happened: his mother told him She had a dream last night, that an Angel took him by the hand and guided him to faraway places and protected him in all kinds of adventures. That was for our kid like an impulse, was like as if a hand was pushing him to follow his Star. So he did it. In the next morning he took a ship to where the Star told him to…
Chapter 2
FIRST TRIP
I n the first hour of the day our kid took a ship to an uncertain journey, something that he described as a one way trip, it was no turning back. At the first night the boy was feeling very excited about the trip, all his expectations and dreams were about to start turning into realities, even with the storm that was shaking the ship so hard that even the old sailors in that frigate were fearing for their lives. He instead, was with a fascination in his eyes, something like if he was on a ferries wheel or rollercoaster. The reason for his calm was his strong faith in his beloved Star.
Three days went by, and in the fourth day a storm so powerful and merciless swallowed the ship into a hell of giant waves and hurricane winds, that the ship couldn’t hold in one piece for too long. In that instant (when the ship was sinking)it came to his mind a strange calm, and he remembered what the Star warned him, about all kind of perils he’ll find in the journey. But the storm continued to blow. When the kid gained consciousness, he was floating on a huge rope, a few meters from the shore of an island. The Island of the Dead.
Chapter 3
THE ISLAND OF THE DEAD
A t the beginning, for our adventurer, the island was showing itself beauty and colorful, with all kind of exotics fruits and flowers, most of them unknown for him and maybe for the world too.
But the Island of the Dead was hiding a secret, one capable of killing. Almost all kind of life, animal and vegetable was poisonous, with a venom more powerful than anything else he ever knew. Once again he remembered the words of the Star, warning him of what he should face in the journey. On the first night he found a cave to sleep, and to be safe of the bigger animals of the island, but that
