What does it take to make a great spy? Bravery, Loyalty, Brains, a Broken Heart?

That’s what made Kara Blake a great spy, the pain she felt over the loss of her partner fuelled her anger, it made her one of the top young spies working for the SSL2, the Supernatural Spy League 2. Humans were not her target, it was instead monsters. When a Code 1 arrives, the most dangerous of all spy alerts, Kara will be sent on a mission, the same mission that broke her heart five years ago. But will she take her revenge, find the boy she loves and escape, or will she be stolen away by the vanishing forest monster.

    Chapter 1

Kara, Kara Blake is the name, yes that’s right; I am the Kara Blake, spy and secret agent. I have spent my whole life living a double life; I became a supernatural spy at the age of seven where I would seek out poltergeists and send them to the afterlife, or find the illegal hunters of fairies. It was all the schools idea, I went to a private school deep in the English countryside and they noticed something special about me; I could sneak around silently, I refused to sit still and showed great ability in martial arts and gymnastics. So after many mental and physical tests I was accepted into the school branch of SSL2 that is, the ‘Supernatural Spies league 2’. Only the best are accepted into league one, that’s where I’m heading and this is my year to get there. I’ve left school now, but I am always on alert for any missions, I am an official full time spy in action and I loved the job; but today was different, I had been balanced Karaline Blake and Spy Kara Blake for too long and now both sides of my life were about to collide, and it was not going to be pretty.

I was sitting in my university mythology and legends lecture, when I felt my alert phone go off in my pocket, looking down you could see the small red light at the top of the phone illuminate in quick pulses, emergency code 1. I was only ever called by the school when it was an earth shattering supernatural event and had the phone for this exact purpose. Each agent was given one, a small silver flip phone that belonged in the 1990’s but it served a vital role, to alert me to missions.

I shot up out of my seat in the stands, startling the students around me; I made my apologies, grabbed my bag and squished out of the stalls. I darted down the steps, made an excuse about my father dying to the lecturer and bolted for the door. The cool air of the corridor hit me as I sprinted out, I always loved the adrenaline that came with a code 1 mission, but they always came with dangers. I had a partner once, he would be nineteen today, sadly on our last code 1 mission he was taken-out by a particularly nasty forest monster. I will never forget the look of fear in his eyes as he was scooped up in its huge claws and carried off, I could do nothing but stand there motionless, watching him vanish. No one has seen him since and I never returned to that Island forest again, I cannot bear to visit the place where I lost the one boy I cared about most in the world.

I darted my way between startled looking lecturers and made it out of the building and across campus, I could see the street where I had parked my perfectly polished silver bike, built for speed and stability; to be honest I was surprised it hadn’t been stolen, then again the huge warning sign plastered to the side threatening death to anyone who laid a finger on my bike may have been enough to stop them. I ripped
