This study demonstrates that because their opposing nature, democracy and capitalism or socialism cannot coexist. To have a democratic society, we have to replace capitalism or socialism with a democratic free market economy and take government out of regulating peoples business and daily life.. The author attempts to present such a democratic concept, its societal structure and function and how under such a system people understand the purpose of life, work less hours, yet have a prosperous, leisurely and satisfying life. The book is actually the story of some parts from the authors life, written in an autobiographical form, showing hardships, sufferings, failures, incredible adventures, romance and love he encountered in developing his theory, and how persistence and determination , despite repeated failures, helped him to succeed in developing his theory and at the same time, transformed him to a better human being.

    Dedication

To those in the search of a meaning to material and spiritual life; to those aspiring for a just and democratic society; to those exploited, alienated, made homeless and victims of poverty and injustice, this work is dedicated.

    PREFACE

THE PRESENTATION OF a theory of democracy as the foundation for a humanistic society; a just, satisfying and leisurely way of life has been the purpose of this writing. This is a concept of a true democracy never described before. Besides the result of over two decades of individual research, study and original thoughts, the evolution of this theory has also benefitted substantially from contributions of hundreds of young thoughtful and conscious students who took my courses in Contemporary Political Theory or Technological Democracy over a span of twenty years.

The first course covered the theories of communism, fascism and democracy. I presented my theory of technological democracy as a part from the last topic. The second course, Technological Democracy, was initiated in 1990 after I published my theory in a book titled Technological Democracy: A Humanistic Philosophy of the Future Society, and developed further after I published my second book: Technodemocratic Economic Theory: From Capitalism and Socialism to Democracy, in 1991. After a brief survey of some contemporary theories, the course concentrated in presenting my theory in detail. Both of my books were used as texts and reference materials. This course exposed my theory of democracy to educated youth consisting of juniors and seniors. Through over thirty years of teaching and advising students in their academic and future plans, I had discovered that a good number of these young individuals had some interesting ideas about life and its true meaning and purpose beyond materialism. A few among them had ideas surprisingly original and unique mostly anti-materialistic. However, by living in a highly materialistic society they had been on guard not to disclose their inner feelings for the fear of being fanatically rejected by some of their peers or institutions they were planning to seek work.

This discovery had induced me to encourage and insist in student participation whenever I presented my theory. Since my theory of democracy was anti-capitalistic and discouraged excess materialistic life, quite a few students (four or five in each of my classes) opened up and disclosed their ideas of democracy which they had kept secret, but anxious to disclose. Not only they were pleased that they had found a receptive audience, but were excited finding out that their thoughts were in line with my theory and therefore valuable and original. I was anxiously interested to see their responses. It became an exciting experience for me and most of my students. To my surprise, I discovered that many students were quite interested in a theory of true democracy and eager to learn and discuss its ingredients. Quite substantial number of them were pleased to come outright and express their ideas against capitalism and so-called capitalistic democracy and participate intellectually in critical analysis of the concept.

This course actually was the result of developing desire of many students to learn more about the theory after they had became briefly exposed to its basic principles by taking my first course in contemporary political theory. The concept of technological democracy was also briefly presented in my course in American Government as a theoretical base for the freshmen students helping them to understand how shaky was the concept of so-called democratic capitalism and why capitalism and democracy could not co-exist. We had to choose either capitalism or democracy.

I feel perpetually indebted to these students. Their participation and contributions often times had guided me to find answers to many problems and questions I had in streamlining my theory and closing gaps that existed in its core.

A great number of these students were frustrated because of the kind of democratic and materialistic society they had to live in. They had found themselves powerless and pressed to submit to its undesirable and cruel manipulation of human life in their daily life as well as in planning their future. After taking my course and learning the true meaning of democracy and the way to get there, a gate for freedom and justice was opened in their mind. Now, they had a direction in life suiting their ideals.

I have always cherished causing such positive effects in the minds of ambitious and energetic but frustrated young individuals. I would now desire to share my thoughts with you with the hope that it will sooth your problems, nourish your mind and point you toward a road to a more comfortable, less stressful, but fruitful, meaningful, satisfying and leisurely life. The development of this theory, strangely, has not been separate from my actual life experiences. There is something for everyone to benefit from the story of my life told here regardless of the reader’s socio-economic, religious or cultural background. My success to affect your life in any way, regardless how tiny, would be my greatest reward in life.

Throughout the materials presented in this writing, I have benefitted from an enormous wealth of knowledge I have received from hundreds of authoritative sources during a span of some forty years. However, the materials presented in this work have not been footnoted since I have not used specific materials, directly or indirectly, from any of these works. Yet, my thoughts and words have benefitted at the same time, not from one, but from a variety of thoughts and ideas from these sources. In recognition of indirect contribution of these authors to my work, I have included their names and publications in an extensive bibliography making these resources available to those who desire further enlightenment in specific areas of knowledge related to this work.

As a student of knowledge all my life, I have had always a great deal of respect and appreciation for my teachers regardless of the extent of their contribution to my knowledge. Muhammad, the great prophet of Islam, once said Whoever teaches me a word, for certain, I shall become his slave. Accordingly, I feel enormously indebted to all those I have benefitted from in my lifelong development to what I am today. Latent authoritative voices of all those cited in this bibliography are collectively reflected in the pages of this work affecting and benefitting, in differing ways, the coming generations and humanity in their efforts toward attaining a just and fair society with equal opportunity for all in every aspect of life.

    INTRODUCTION

TH E C O N C E P T S PRESENTED in this autobiography has been the outcome of over twenty years of hard thoughts, work, research, teaching, academic and non-academic experiences in many countries and within many cultures. This work should not be considered as a fiction though certain parts may appear to be so. It is a collection of true stories from my personal life adventures. It attempts to illustrate as to how gradually and painfully my theory of a true democratic society had evolved, how gradually and painfully I was transformed to a better human being, and how, while working hard, I had attained a successful, satisfying and leisurely life.

I was born in 1916 and raised in Tabriz, Iran. I lived in Tabriz until 1935 when I graduated from high school and went to Tehran, the capital, for my higher education. In 1939, I graduated from the Iranian Air Force Technical College with the rank of second lieutenant. In 1941, during World War II, when Iran was occupied by the Allied forces, I was transferred to the Iranian Army division stationed in my hometown Tabriz, Azerbaijan, occupied by the Soviet Union. But my actual assignment was to carry out a special secret mission. My experiences of 1941-45, during the Second World War, in Iran, were strong moving factors in introducing me to realities of human life, its miseries, greed, injustices and now and then its wonderful and delicate moments. My soul and heart were incurably disturbed. I was in my early twenties, young, inexperienced and idealistic. As a first lieutenant I was an officer in the Iranian army division stationed in Tabriz, Azerbaijan, the northwest region of Iran. But this formal position was just a coverup, legitimatizing my presence in Tabriz under the control of the Soviet Union forces which had occupied northern one-third of Iran since 1941. My real assignment was to cooperate with my father, who headed an underground patriotic resistance force, in an effort to prevent the Soviet Union from swallowing Azerbaijan making it a part of its territory through manipulated political process.

Details of my underground activities and heroic participation of many, horrors, sufferings and ultimate victory of the people of the region (1941-44), can be found in my autobiography of this period titled The Story of a Man and Great Unknown Women. The awful events I witnessed during this mission in Tabriz, affected me so much that it created a voice, at times more like a command within me, directing me to devote my life in finding a way for betterment of human life. That inner voice since then has never left me. It changed the essence and direction of my life. My whole life became devoted to educating myself toward gaining appropriate knowledge which would enable me to find a universal concept or philosophy of life which would lead humanity out of its misery and ignorance to a just and humane life with equal opportunity for all. My father and his eventful humanitarian and revolutionary life style played an essential role in establishing my basic characteristics, desire and devotion to a democratic way of life.

In 1946, while still in military service, I entered the University of Tehran Law School and graduated in 1951. At the meantime, I was assigned to different military judicial positions. In 1953, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, I left Iran to the United States to pursue further my education. After eight years of graduate study at Indiana University, I received two law degrees (J.D. and LL.M.) and a Ph.D. in political science and economics. Being specialized in international law and international trade, having technological knowledge, and speaking five languages, I had excellent offers from law firms in New York and Washington, D.C. to practice law. But my purpose in life was not to become rich and famous. I wanted to have opportunity for continuing my research and study to advance my theory of democratic society, while having enough income for a comfortable living standards. So, I chose the academic field for my occupation. I did not accept offers from big universities which would have made my carrier subject to publish or perish. I needed several years of research to crystalize my theory of democratic society without interruption or devoting my time to other publishable research in order to maintain my employment. Consequently, I chose a small but reputable university where the emphasis was on teaching rather than research and publishing. In 1967, I was accepted to an S.J.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) degree program by the University of Wisconsin Law School, where I was also needed to do some research for them which did not interfere but complemented my own research project. I received my degree in 1972.

After seventeen years of university education and some twenty-five years of teaching and academic life, I was finally able to crystalize a concept of democratic and just society. There were still many problems to resolve.

Developing a societal philosophy required general and professional knowledge in many fields in humanities, social sciences and technology. Whatever knowledge I had acquired in these diverse fields did not seem sufficient to guide me in solving my problems in a scientific manner.

I needed a divine hand to lead me and ultimately I received it. Not only it solved my problems regarding my basic theory, but it also disclosed the secrets of the universe, creation, evolution and the purpose of human life and its inseparable connection to the whole universe. I received this enormous knowledge through transcendence after many years of meditation. Details of this process and all spiritual discoveries are presented in my book titled Passage to the Heaven: Secrets of the Universe, Life and Happiness. The essentials of my theory of democracy were published in two books titled Technological Democracy: A Humanistic Philosophy of the Future Society, 1990, and Technodemocratic Economic Theory: From Capitalism and Socialism to Democracy, 1991. An example of its application to developing and less fortunate societies was published in 1994, titled Iraq and Democracy: A Futuristic Perspective. These and my other publications are available through www.eternalistfoundation.com.

The materials presented in these publications are mostly in abstracts and scientific form often difficult and complex to be properly understood by individuals without appropriate background. In this work, I have attempted to present the same ideas in a manner understandable to common readers and general public. Furthermore, it discloses sufferings, frustrations and pains a humanistic thinker has to go through and continuous devotion he has to sustain in order to discover and present a direction for his fellow humans toward a better life.

The philosophy of democratic society presented here, to my knowledge, has never been described before. It is a true and meaningful concept for a just and fair societal system. It embodies not only political democracy, which is actually non-existent today in its true form, but it also embodies the social, economic and spiritual aspects of life in a democratic society. It embodies the freedom to choose and act upon the choice based on the principle of equality of opportunity. It is an easy concept to understand but somehow quite complex in application and practice.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Incredible Extraterrestrial Help

IN MY PREVIOUS book, Passage to the Heaven: Secrets of the Universe, Life and Happiness, I have presented the arduous efforts I afforded and went through in order to understand and improve my meditation process for the purpose of transcendence. It took about ten years of determined efforts with hundreds of failures that I was finally able to divorce my mind from my body and transcend to the Center of the Universe. This was in 1974. After this success, I thought I would be able to do it again in a much faster and less arduous manner. But it took another ten years where, in 1984, I had my second success to transcend. This time I was guided to Planet X where I was received and entertained by my preassigned hosts and was introduced to their highly advanced and democratic society and their ways of life. The whole story of what is outlined here is presented in detail in the above stated book.

I was helped by my host family, consisting of the father Zed, mother Izy and their daughter Sue, to return to my planet. Before departure, I was promised that I will receive a precious gift from them as soon as I arrive home. In the morning of my arrival, while sitting on the stool in the bathroom, to my extreme amazement, I encountered their promised gift. It was a human egg the size of a tennis ball laying on the floor in the corner of the bathroom.

I knew it was a human egg because in my visit to Planet X, I was demonstrated their way of procreation. Children for each family were produced from combining the genes of the expected parents placed inside an artificial egg with proper nourishments in a scientific procreation institution. In a couple of weeks the egg was hatched under the supervision of the scientists. An eight-inch tall baby was born. The growth was amazingly fast. After four weeks the baby was given to the parents to take home. He/she was about 24 inches tall and was able to take care of himself/herself with some help from the parents. After about ten months the child would reach the age of adulthood, as an 18-year old person in our frame of time. By this time his/her size would reach about 50-55 inches near the maximum height of these people of about 60 inches. From there on the growth would diminish to near zero for the rest of 200-250 years of their life span.

When the child was born, all necessary knowledge useful during the lifetime were downloaded in the child’s mind. From there on it was the parents job to expose the child to different dimensions of knowledge he/she possessed and their proper use in the practical ways of daily life. Parents had also two other important responsibilities as well. They had to teach the child the logical way of collecting facts, analyzing and reaching conclusions. They had to show the child different ways of applying the essential concept of equality of opportunity in every aspect of daily life. Gradual development of wisdom and rationality were the results among other humane values.

By the time the child was two years old in our frame of time, he/ she which now was about 30 years old, again, in our frame of time, had become totally developed and independent. Most children, after entering the work force, liked to remain with their parents. After they chose a life companion, the family become more extended. Since women did not, and could not, produce children, sexual relationship had become a desired kind of pleasure. It did not involved primarily physical sexual relations but an extensive and developing romantic affairs. Ultimately it could result to sexual relations if both parties so desired. Consequently, there was no exclusivity in sexual relations. Parents were not bound together by exclusive sexual relations but with bond of parenthood and intimate lasting friendship. Since romantic and sexual affairs were considered a kind of an artistic pleasure, they could develop between any two persons of opposite sex regardless of their other relationships such as father, daughter, brother, sister, mother etc.

The child I had received as a gift, was a girl. I named her Ziba which in Persian language meant beautiful. The next ten months I devoted my attention to raise her, were full of anxiety, fear, pleasure and countless surprises. By this time she had developed to be an amazingly beautiful and charming girl of 18-year old as she claimed to be in our frame of time and age. She had mastered both English and French languages with super-fluency and amazingly extended vocabulary. To show just her incredible learning capacity, even when she was only five-month old, one day I was surprised of her extensive use of vocabulary and asked her.

It seems that you have improved your English substantially in a very short period of time; how have you done it?

Easy, she responded, from the Webster’s dictionary you showed me in your library down stares. before I was able to respond, she continued. But, I have still a long way to go.

What do you mean, you have a long way to go?

I have read and memorized only ten pages from each letter of the alphabet . . . .

You have done what? I asked with amazement and disbelief.

I have read and memorized words from only about 300 pages, there are about 2000 more pages to learn. she stated calmly, and again before I could respond she continued. You know, each word has several different meanings which I had to learn.

I told her that she does not have to learn all the words in the dictionary. Many of those we never use and a majority of those we rarely use. She was surprised, why we had those words in dictionary if we don’t use them. To my further amazement she had read and learned all spelling, phonetics, and grammar instructions embodied in the introductory section of the dictionary.

Above all these, like other people from her planet, she could read whatever came to my mind. I could not hide anything from her. She read all my thoughts and knew ahead of time whatever I was going to say. I was surprised when one day, looking at me smilingly, she told me:

You may like to know that last night I met my parents.

How? Where? You must be joking.

No joke, I transcended to my planet and to my parents home.

How could you do that, I asked, you don’t know how to meditate and transcend.

Yes I do, I have all the necessary knowledge implanted in me to be used when the time becomes appropriate.

I was appalled, considering myself a scientist and well educated, I had to go through ten years of arduous and torturous meditation for just one transcendence. Here, this little ten-month old child which I considered her to be despite her claim of being an 18-year old adult, decides to transcend and does it successfully in just one night. Then I remembered her saying that she could use it when the time became appropriate, I asked.

What did you mean by saying that you could use it when the time became appropriate?

We are not allowed to use meditation for transcendence until we reach the age of adulthood. One must know what she/he is doing and for what purpose. Children do not have this capacity even though they possess the knowledge. After a moment of pose and before I could respond, she continued.

I knew I had reached adulthood but I was not sure I would be able to succeed. Actually, I was somehow afraid to enter the world of unknown. I had been struggling for a while whether in was time to do it. I finally decided that I would do it. After a short pause she continued. I am glad I decided to do it.

How did you know who your parents were? I asked curiously.

Oh. I knew my parents quite well. They had visited me several times recently. They told me that they had visited me many times before when I was a child but I don’t remember.

How it comes that I don’t know anything about these visitations. I asked astonishingly.

Because these visitations are not physical and visible, she responded, they are the meeting of minds and spirits but they are real. After a moment of pause she added. "You should know about the essence of such meetings, you have experienced them yourself?’

That is true. I responded. Who are your parents? Can you explain it to me?

Would you be surprised if I told you that you know them very well? She answered with a ruse smile on her face. She was right, I was caught by surprise and was trying to figure out the answer.

Come on Reza, she said laughingly, who were those who offered me as a gift to you?

You mean my hosts Zed and Izy are your parents? I expressed with amazement.

Who else? Where did you think that human egg came from?

I thought it was an experimental egg from the Procreation Institute with no determined parents prepared especially as a gift for me. I stated still astonished.

First, such experimentation, I mean creating human eggs with no specified parents, is not allowed. Second, my parents gift to you, as you well know, was not a permanent one. You are expected to return me to my parents when the time comes.

When that time is going to be? I asked

    I was given to you for, at least, two purposes. she responded. "First to show you the marvels of our civilization by creating top quality human beings from their biological parents, super-educated, peace loving attached and helpful to their parents and the community in nearly every aspect of life; second, to convey to you a certain amount of knowledge you need to understand the essence of the Creator, Universe, eternal human life, and the democratic ways and means we have acquired through centuries of civil evolution. You have witnessed the first stage by bringing me to the world and experimenting the marvels of raising me to the stage we are in now. The second stage which was in two parts, we have achieved the first part which was making you acquainted with the concept of the Creator, matterless and material universes, the purpose and meaning of human life here and beyond. The second part which we are going to achieve, relates to the ways and means by which our democratic society became crystalized in the span of several centuries;

to present you the true meaning of democracy, how we went about to achieve it and how we carry it out and benefit from it."

I apologize by thinking that you belonged to nobody. Now I understand why you have to return to your planet and to your own folks. I stated.

No harm is done. She responded. Your apology is pleasingly accepted.

When are we going to start the last part of your mission? I asked

Anytime you are ready, my darling. She responded smilingly.

By this time, she was about eleven-month old. About a month ago, to my very surprise, she had announced that she has reached her adulthood and wants to take over the management of the house.

What do you mean by taking care of the house? You are just a ten-month old baby. I responded with amazement.

I strongly resent such attribution. She told me. I thought you know by now that, in your frame of time, I am about 18 years old, which is the age of adulthood in your society.

I was appalled, didn’t know what to say and was looking for a proper way to respond, when she continued.

I would expect you treat me as an adult as you would treat an 18-year old girl from your own society.

I was speechless. How in the world a ten-month old girl can become suddenly 18-years old? I thought.

I will show you how, she responded with a soft smile, by reading my mind. From tonight on, we will sleep together.

I often forget that you can read what is in my mind, I responded with certain disappointment. I didn’t mean anything against you. The situation is so incredible that despite being aware of rapid development of the babies in your planet, your claimed adulthood is unbelievable to me. I posed for a second and without letting her to respond I continued. The most liberally I could judge from your appearance, I could not consider you more than 12 or 13 years old, definitely not 18. I posed a second and again without letting her to respond, I questioned.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh?

I am 55 inches tall and weigh 89 pounds. She responded and then added. But what height and weight have to do with sexual maturity?

I didn’t know how to respond and was struggling to find an explanation. She noticed and then continued.

What the law considers a girl to be matured and what the nature allows her to become mature are two different things. The legal age in your country is 18, but thousands of 12-13-year old girls become pregnant each year here and can give birth if they desire to.

But 18-year requirement here is not just for sexual maturity but more so for mental one. I responded, though I knew it was not a good response.

Good, do you consider me mentally matured? she asked. I knew I had made mistake in responding the way I had. I had no other choice but to answer in positive.

Of course, you know many times more than I do about every aspect of life and different areas of existing knowledge plus many areas people in my planet have to discover in the future.

What is the problem then? She asked, and without letting me to respond continued. As I understand, you consider me mentally super-mature and according your own standards, capable of sexual relationship even if you consider me just 12-13-year old. But I am not at that age, I am even over 18 and going to be 19 in a month according to your standards. After a moment of pause, she added. I am not going to continue arguing about my age, you will find it out as soon as our new relationship begins.

I was appalled and didn’t know what to say. I could not believe what I was hearing. Until this disclosure, I had a peaceful and delightful life with her. I considered her my little beautiful girl. She joyfully would sit on my lap, hog me kiss me, several times during the day, I would hold, embrace and kiss her as my little girl and at night I would put her in bed and kiss her goodnight.

Now, suddenly she had caused an enormous explosion in our relationship, destroying all that I had enjoyed with great delight, tending to replace it by a storm of new sentiments incredible to me even to visualize. I had no idea as to how I was going to face this situation. The storm had invaded my body and soul. I felt shivering but tried to control myself. She approached me with her beautiful usual smile, put her arms around me, placed her head on my chest and said softly.

I have always loved you, first as my benefactor and then as my idol. She then remained silent holding me tight with her arms around me. I had my arms around her in the past when I considered her a little girl but now I didn’t know how to respond. Hearing no response from my part, she continued with the same soft and delightful voice.

I know that you also have loved me, first as your child and a little girl, but after I grew up many times you wished that I was a matured girl so that you could express your burning love to me. She paused for a few second and not having any response from me, continued.

You never told me about your feelings towards me, but I could read your mind. I knew all about it and received a great pleasure by being loved so dearly and secretly. I knew also about your sufferings since you considered such feeling irrational despite the fact that you could not do anything about it. In fact it had become an inseparable part of your existence. After a moment of pause and again not hearing any response from my part, she continued. I knew that you were never going to expose your feelings to me. I thought, it was upon me to come out and expose my feelings and love toward you thus, giving you opportunity to express yours. She then remained silent, her head still on my chest, expecting some response from me.

I was in a stage of mental chaos. Suddenly my whole world had changed. Our quiet and delightful life together was swept away by an enormous storm of incredible disclosures where I was about to drown and struggling for survival I was looking for something to hang on.

I relaxed my arms which were holding her close to me, took her arms and softly moved her a few inches away from me. She slowly raised her head and looked at me. Definitely, it was not the look of a little girl who I had known and kissed so many times. To my astonishment, I encountered two half-open beautiful eyes of a sexually matured girl looking at mine with an incredible expression of love and a mouse, loosely open, desiring to be kissed. My love toward her was not anymore a secret. It was now all in the open. Her love toward me was unbelievable since I was old by more than three times of her claimed age of 18. She desired to give and receive love, to hug and be hugged romantically, to kiss and be kissed passionately, be free for sexual flirtation and God knows what more.

For a moment I felt, for the first time, an overwhelming desire to kiss her passionately, but I resisted with a great effort. It looked so much out of place even crazy. Noticing my hesitation and feeling my internal struggle and indecisiveness, she broke the silence.

You have stood there like an statute in silence all this time I have been talking and expressing my feelings toward you. For God’s sake darling, say something.

I still remained silent, struggling hard to find something to say. Addressing me as her darling was a surprising new novelty and did not miss my attention. Noticing me bewildered, she continued.

I know that you love me dearly, in fact, I have known this for a while; you have also discovered now that I am a mature girl and I have the same feeling for you. All these require a new relationship. She paused for a moment, not hearing any response from me she continued.

It would be a wonderful, delightful and fascinating relationship Reza. What do you have to say? She inquired. I took her arm and offered her a chair to sit down which she did.

I just don’t know what to say, I finally broke my silence. These incredible discoveries are too much for me to absorb, analyze and make decision at this time. I need time to think and come to a decision.

She smiled. I am going to prepare our diner, you can tell me about your decision during the dinner, she paused for a moment still smiling, or shortly thereafter, she concluded.

I knew the meaning of that smile, I had faced it several times before. It was a sign of self confidence from her part for her ability to manipulate me. Based on my past experience, I knew she had the ways and means to reach her desired goal.

Please, let me prepare the dinner as I always do. I said while starting to walk to the kitchen.

Not anymore, she responded holding my arm and stopping me from going to the kitchen, from here on, I will be delighted to take over the kitchen duties, plan, prepare and serve our meals. Looking at me with a ruse smile, she then added. Of course with your consultation and consent.

But you don’t know how to cook! I asserted.

Why don’t you wait and see, she paused for a moment and then added with a soft smile, my darling.

I had enough surprises for one day and didn’t want to pursue the matter any further. I thought I will tell her that I was going to rest for a while, to call me if she needs me.

Why don’t you go and rest for a while, I will call you if I need you. She had read my mind and was repeating it to me with a teasing smile.

As you wish, I responded and then added with a teasing tone, my darling.

The expression had been used by her for the first time today. Noticing my teasing intention, she smiled without looking at me and went after her cooking chores. I left the kitchen and went to the adjoining living room to watch the news in TV.

Except for the three bedrooms and two bathrooms which had doors in order to maintain privacy, the other components of the house were openly connected to one another. The front yard gardens surrounded a five feet cement pass way from the driveway to the entrance door, which opened into a five feet wide hallway adjoining on the front another hallway leading, on the right, to the bedrooms and a bathroom and, on the left, to the dining room. Immediately after the entrance door the hallway expanded to the left allowing a large entrance to our family room and opening in the front into a large kitchen, separated from our formal dining room by a snack bar. The dining room which had a large picture window opening to our backyard and another opening to the side yard, was connected through an opening to our leaving room. where we had our entertainment center. The living room had also an opening counter from the kitchen to serve food directly to the living room when we wanted to eat there while watching some programs on TV or a movie. This was a 14 x 26 ft. delightful room with three windows opening into our beautiful backyard with huge ornamental trees in addition to apple, pear, cherry and plum trees and flower gardens. The room was also connected through a backdoor to a 20 x 20 ft. patio surrounded by flower gardens, equipped by an outdoor glass table, umbrella, and four cushioned chairs.

The jewel of the house was our 13 x 20 ft. family room. We called it the Green Room. Its walls were painted light bluish green. A double curtains of the same color, one heavy with soft color flowers and the other plain and transparent chiffon, adorned each of the two 12 ft. picture windows on the opposite walls of the room. One opened into the front yards and gardens, and the other, opened into the patio with a beautiful view of the backyard and gardens. A heavy light green carpet covered the floor, wall to wall. A 10 x 14 Persian carpet with beige background with intricate flower designs was laid over this carpet. A green velvet sofa with delicate black lines and two beige color easy chairs, a glass-top coffee table, two corner shelves stands holding a variety of delicate art objects and a black ebony piano at the top of the room contributed to the decoration of the room.

Ziba loved this room but could not spend much time in this room because of fear of being seen from the outside and discovered. It was somehow safe during the day, for a short period of time.

The purpose from the description of the house was to present the openness of the architectural design where the rooms were openly connected creating one extended space. Accordingly, while I was sitting in the living room watching the news or other TV programs, I was quite aware of the activities of Ziba in the kitchen. I could see her through the service window connecting the living room to the kitchen.

Charged to make a very difficult, if not impossible, decision in a matter of an hour, I could neither read nor watch the news. To distract her attention to me, I thought I will turn on the television giving the impression that I was watching it and concentrate my thoughts on finding a way to respond to her at dinner time.

From the tone of her proposal, it was pretty obvious that she had sexual relations in mind. I had no problem with having sex with a woman but not with a girl who actually was little over 10-month old and physically looked to me not more than 12-13 years old, despite of her claim of being over 18.

I knew I could not say no unless I claimed that I loved her as a little girl but really not as a woman. I knew, according to her culture, she did not believe in one-sided love. But at the same time, I was well aware that she was able to read my mind and was sure that I loved her dearly. More troublesome was that when her mind was set on doing something, she would employ all the means on her disposal to achieve it. That was beyond my power to control or change. She had a tremendous power to influence one’s mind if she intended to do
