About this ebook

There is a precipitous and dangerous chasm that exists in between their truth and their reality.

They brought that beacon of light from their alternate universe.

Perhaps best of all, when history is written about the 112th feel good congress, there will be no mention of the revisionist whitewash; but just a feel - good version of lifting the curtain to start each session of congress by reading the sacred and divinely endowed cleaned up version of the constitution.

I WAS BORN IN MASHULAVILLE, MS. IN 1945, BUT OUR FAMILY RESIDED IN THE NEARBY COMMUNITY OF TRIPLET TOWN, WITH A POPULATION OF LESS THAN 100 PEOPLE. I CONTINUED TO LIVE THERE UNTIL GRADUATING FROM LOUISVILLE COLORED HIGH SCHOOL IN LOUISVILLE MS. IN 1964; WITH VERY FEW JOBS BEING AVAILABLE LOCALLY, I FOUND THE LARGER WORLD BECKONING TO ME TO EXPERIENCE A PART OF LIFE BEYOND MY KNOWN HORIZONS. I DECIDED TO JOIN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. DURING MY FOUR YEARS OF SERVING OUR COUNTRY, I ACCUMULATED EVEN MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY OUR SOCIAL AND POLITICAL STRUCTURES WERE SO DIAMETRICAL TO OUR NATIONAL FOUNDING PHILOSOPHICAL IDEAS. BELIEVING THE COLLECTIONS OF MYTH (HISTORY) THAT WE WERE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL TO BE UNTRUE BUT ALSO BELIEVING THAT FAR-FLUNG GEOGRAPHY WOULD ANSWER SOME OF THOSE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS. AS SOMEONE ONCE SAID, “HISTORY IS A FABLE AGREED UPON;” I EMBARKED UPON A QUEST TO FIND THOSE ILLUSIVE ANSWERS TREATED AS SO MUCH TRUTH; A QUEST HERETOFORE NEARLY ALL CONSUMING, CONTINUED UN-ABATED EVEN TO AND ON THROUGH THE DAYS OF THESE WRITINGS. REMEMBERING SO MUCH FROM THE PAST WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THESE CLEARER LENSES INTO THE FUTURE, THE IMAGES AND IDEAS ARE LESS FOGGY. LIFE IS MORE CLEARLY FOCUSED. RETROSPECTION SEEMS TO LIGHT THAT FORWARD PATH. I HAVE WORKED MANY JOBS, RUN SOME BUSINESSES, RAISED A FAMILY AND DEALT WITH PEOPLE FROM MANY WALKS OF LIFE. THESE QUESTIONS OF WHY CAME IN A VARIETY OF FORMS. IN BUSINESS, AS IN ALMOST ALL FACETS OF ACHIEVEMENT, FAVORABLE RESULTS WERE TREATED BY MOST WHO KNEW ME AS MAJOR SURPRISES WHILE I THOUGHT THAT ANYTHING LESS THAN GREAT WAS JUST ACCEPTANCE OF ANOTHER DEFAULT POSITION. MAYBE WRITING THAT LONG PROMISED BOOK IS A START AND/OR MAYBE WRITING A FEW WILL LEAD TO ANSWERS I AND MAYBE YOU HAD ALL ALONG. SINCE RETIRING IN 2006 MY WIFE, ROSE, AND I HAVE LIVED IN TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI AND SOMETIMES SET UP VENDER BOOTHS AND SELL AT LOCAL FLEA MARKETS.

    Why? - Arvin Mosley

    AMERICA’S TAPESTRY

Conservative think tanks set the policy for the Republican Party and in the process they upgrade their word choices to protect their guilt and obscure their intent. They will go to great lengths to denounce the John birch society but support the same philosophy the John Birch Society supported. These were the same philosophies Ronald Reagan, George H W Bush, and George W Bush espoused as core beliefs.

Communism is waiting around every corner to take over through our media, movies and worst of all is the takeover by all of the fringe minority groups like the women libbers, gays and the African Americans. With those fringe groups taking over, America will never be the same pure Christian society as it was intended to be by our founding fathers; oops my bad, I forgot, I’m one of the minorities. I’m black. Sometimes I forget that I am a part of the fringe not a part of the fabric of American society.

Sometimes when I notice the images of our present leaders in the House of Representatives, our President, and the non standard variety in the President’s cabinet, it is hard not to get that fleeting feeling of being All American. I digress, and proceed to the back of the bus, to continue my train of thought-hopefully uninterrupted. As I sit on the back seat and look at all that is in front of me, various shades of red, white and blue going in the same direction. The colors and hues continue to try to morph into one beautiful color.

As the bus made its first stop it was stripped of a part of its tapestry. The sounds, shapes, and hues were diminished in brightness as the first passengers debarked at the farm. At the next stop downtown, the richness of color, tone, hues and shapes were also taken away. As the tapestry was changed and its brightness diminished I started to feel as if I was not just an impartial observer, I was a guest only. By the time we arrived at the mall I was the only one who was not white.

As Sarah Palin said, I must have debarked at one of the more patriotic parts of America. The next time I talk to Rush Limbaugh I will ask him, since he is the number one conservative think tank in America.

The tea party express rolled through Tupelo, MS on Saturday April 3, 2010 without much acerbic vitriol strewn upon the friendly confines of one of Mississippi’s finest cities.

Some of Tupelo’s less progressive residents would have liked to see more fight but they have lost some of their ardor in view of the greatest loss by conservative’s in a very long time; they lost the great health care and health insurance reform debate.

They ooched along the political waters and left a wake smaller than the KKK did last year or a wave smaller than my grandmother dropping one of her shoes in a lake: not much effect at all. I like the fight; but, when they, as the KKK did last year, came in meek and left even meeker it took away my desire to lash out at them.

I have great faith that both of them will, once again, spew their venom in the near future. The Obama machine is not done yet. In a few days the fight will start again, hate will spew and I will have my engine revving and ready to respond the only way I know how. I will write about the troubles I see on the right.

Stop, let’s start over and allow the states to make rules and laws about health care. Allow the purchase of health care across state lines. Let’s have tort reform. Yes we need health care but not like this. Don’t cram this monstrosity down the throat of the American people. Your insurance premiums will rise. This will raid the Medicare program. It will raise taxes. If this bill is signed into law it will lead us down a road of total government control of our lives. These are the lies-through the use of propaganda and misleading polls-that we are allowing to be the central focus and tone of our discourse when it comes to the discussion of many important things in politics these days.

The truth is it is time for the nattering nabobs of negativity to stand up and be counted as to how they feel about the things the American people need. Could it be that they don’t care about the American people? They’re living by polls performed by slanted questions broken into bits and pieces with slight-of-hand and propagandized tones. I know these things because I just took one of those polls. The real answers were not there. The questions were tightly bound to lead into one direction and to lead to one logical conclusion; be consistent or get thrown out. This is corrupting our polling system.

This mendacious and corrupting system leads to propaganda once it has gotten the credibility that is associated with polling results. If we allow the big questions of our time to be addressed from a point where non truth are allowed to flourish and take on the mantle of truth it will always lead to unreliable results. If bent and immoral falsehoods are allowed to be a part of the discussions of truth they must be rebutted with the strongest of facts. People must be told when they tell lies. We liberals want to be politically correct and euphemistic in answering lies and false statement that are hurled in our direction.

Our nice spineless progressives seem to be afraid to confront the republicans—with their superior airs-and confute their mendaciousness, their manipulations, their propagandizing and their lies with facts. The progressive democrats, if you check recent history, are the only ones to balance the budget and build surpluses, the liberals need to stand up and be counted for what they are-visionaries for good.

They passed the civil rights and voting rights laws, just to name a couple of instance, with very little republican support and with no help at all from the southern democrats, who were soon going to become republicans. We should ignore those spurious and slanted polls, work through the forest of mendacity and keep our sights steadily on that moving target of controlling the runaway cost of health insurance that lead to the loss of so many lives and jobs.

As I read the daily journal editorial page on March 12, 2010 I noticed an editorial written by George Will and since my point of view is usually diametrically opposed to his I felt that it was worthy of casual perusal and nothing more.

But, upon investigation, I noticed that it was a diatribe on the probity of expressing and conveying the message in the state of the union address. There were words in his article that sent me scurrying, more than once, to my favorite book, the dictionary. I guess he was writing for the liberal elite; however, most of them will miss the exactness of the message he was trying to convey.

The gist and tone of his message was a disingenuous plea to stop with the wordy messages and the theatrical enhancement of state of the union settings. These messages are not only to inform the congress and the American people of the state of the union; the conflated setting of congress, the judiciary along with an audience of exemplary and heroic people can sometimes tug at the heart string with the mere mention of heroic action or tragedy.

With half of the congress applauding every time the president stated that something was suppose to be good and note worthy, we should have remembered that those who applauded helped to create the message. Those who sit silently are the ones who feel powerless to convey any message on this night. The judiciary, traditionally do not judge on this night. This environment has, for generation, been accepted as a time set aside for the president to put a positive slant on his achievements and sometime the opposition gets the feeling, maybe justifiably so, that they are being berated

Justice John Roberts has always displayed a strong partisan conservative point of view. Was it inadequate knowledge or partisanship when Justice John Roberts tried to erroneously administer the oath of office for President Obama or could it be because President Obama voted against his confirmation when he was a Senator? It was great to see them squirm in discomfort at being criticized for making a bad decision about treating corporations the same as people or a group of people. Corporations are a form of business entity. They are not people.

Is Arizona the new Jim Crow state? When the Governor, Jan Brewer signed the new immigration bill into law, she said that there would be no racial profiling but police officers would be required to ask for proof of immigration status: However, whose immigration status are they going to check, Anglos, Gringo’s, Black Americans?

We all know who will be checked. Let’s face facts; the law cannot be enforced without illegally profiling and discriminating against those with Indian or Mexican appearance. Arizonans are digging themselves a hole without realizing the dirt is falling in on them. Their argument is circular, they are being asked why, and they answer, because. I’m asking, because of
