About this ebook

Beyond Deceptions Myths and Lies reveal the origins of distorted misrepresentations of traditional African spiritual systems. It also reveals how the slave trade was responsible for spiritually de-Africanizing 80% of the African descendent population in the Diaspora, fragmenting numerous African cultures, spiritual systems and traditions. Beyond Deceptions Myths and Lies unlocks the truth in how systematic methods of self hate and mis-education through Western religious concepts have vilified traditional African spiritual systems and concepts of those enslaved by Christian colonizers whose religious traditions justified and sanctioned one of the worlds most heinous atrocities in history, the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

    Dedication

This work is dedicated to my father Sterling M. Beverly,

and all my ancestors who walked this planet long before me.

To all my father’s fathers, all my mother’s mothers,

and to all those Africans be they Wolof, Ibo

Yoruba, Fon, Hausa, Masi, Zulu, JA, Ashanti, Ewe who

perished in the Trans-Atlantic, and Trans-Sahara slave

trade. To those who perishes on the death marches to

the slave dungeons that lead to the belly of slave ships

    and sharks.

This work is dedicated to those who found

    peace on the ocean floor

with Olokun crossing the middle passage,

with all its horrors. To those Africans in the Diaspora that lost their

lives preserving the traditions, and culture of their ancestors,

to those Africans who hung from tree branches,

    bridge rails, lamp post.

to those Africans in the Deep South who just disappeared on their

way home from work, school or just trying to come

    I salute, and honor you.

    PREFERENCE

It is quite unfortunate that so much value has been placed on falsehoods, fabrications, mis-information, and propaganda pertaining to traditional African cultures, religious systems, social behaviors, military, and political structures. Western society’s social political religious attitudes, and mindset of intolerance, and prejudice toward Africa, and her many facets; is responsible for the blatant distortion of African history, and historical facts. This attitude has influenced the education system, and Christian religious communities. The African American religious community has been a victim of racial influences, and the mind set of Western society’s hatred and contempt for those of African descent, and kinship. This attitude has been present since the first African arrived in the colonies in this country. This attitude was concealed under the pretense of evangelizing Christianity. A large percentage of clergy are unaware of the historical origins of Christianity, and the role of the Vatican in Rome; the church’s role in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. It’s dark secrets can no longer be hidden; but there are those who would close their eyes to truth to try and justify this horrific crime against humanity. The Christian church’s justification for the enslaving of Africans was that they were said to be only three fifths humane, a step above cattle. This is the opinion of a twisted religious structure creating the mind set for the populace, disregarding the thinking process of society.

The tragedy of mis-education in school systems across the country is a crime in itself. Myths lies fabrications of truth, omissions of historical facts pertaining to African history has created a distorted world view concerning peoples of color; referring to third world countries as a minority in an inferior light; considering people of color make up more than half of the worlds populace.

60% to 70% of African American youth and other people of color are completely unaware of their rich history of antiquity, because of this vicious cycle of mis-information, and mis-education being perpetuated throughout the education system, media, and within the majority of African American churches, in the community.

The last resource for the preservation of our history, culture, and African identity lies within our community’s African owned, and supported book stores who support our scholar’s literary works, research, and archeological discoveries. It was through the efforts of African educators such as Dr. Chiek Anta Diop, Dr. Ivan Van Sertama, Dr. Yosef ben Yoccanan, the late Dr. John Hendrick Clark, Dr. Frances cress Wellsing, Malcolm X, J.A. Rodgers and many, many more that have blazed a trail for us to follow, unveiling the truth that has been concealed by a racist political social, and religious structure of racist clergy, historians, archeologists, professors, teachers who have set the wheels of ignorance into motion by perpetuating myths, and lies. So much emphasis has been placed on denial of the African greatness of antiquity throughout African history; from the lines of the Ethiopian Queens to the dynamics of the African architectures, and builders of the great pyramids at the Giza Plateau, and throughout the Caribbean to the inhabitants of Haiti, and Jamaica who liberated themselves through the use of their ancient ancestors religious traditions, of West Africa. Military conquest of Hanibal, the Blackamoores, and so many more go unmentioned in the annals of military history. It was through the writings of Dr. Ivan Van Sertama that we learned of the presence of Africans in the America long before the comings of Columbus; also revealed were the slaving actives of Columbus’s voyages, in the ships logs. This denial of our ancestors place in history is due to the intentional deliberate omissions of historical facts; excluding Africa from the arena of contributions to the world, being that the cradle of civilization began in Africa. This is a sick and delusional racist social structure with constant media propaganda of African culture, and African descended peoples being portrayed in an inferior light compared to European nations and European descended people. Not to acknowledge the contributions of Africans, and African Americans in the development of not only this country, but abroad as well is deplorable, and inexcusable. To teach that the only history that African Americans have is a slave history is a sad state of affairs. It is the writings of J.A. Rodgers, The mis-education of the Negro that sums up the totality of the topic at hand. What is even more insulting is to attend Sunday morning service in the African American community in the African American church with a congregation of African Americans with an African American minister, and to have representations of a Europeanized Christ when it clearly states in the Christian Bible that Jesus had skin of burnt cooper, and hair of lamb’s wool. Culturally distorted religious figures are still displayed in African American churches, and homes. To accept culturally distorted religious
