Chilly childhood winters in Ontario, Canada, pushed her to seek the warm beaches of Hawaii and French Polynesia, where she loves to sail and snorkel. She considers Italy her second home since she has traveled and lived there on many occasions. On her journeys abroad, she loves to speak French, Italian, and Spanish, eat local cuisine, and immerse herself in local arts, music, and culture. With a BA in psychology and a masters in education, she has been teaching, researching, and writing around the globe.
