রঞ্জন আর মিলির সেই কলেজ লাইফ থেকেই পরিচয় - তখন বি,এ সেকেন্ড ইয়ার ... সাধারণ কলেজ পড়ুয়া ছেলে-মেয়েদের যেমন হয় আর কি -প্রথমে পরিচয় তারপর বন্ধুত্ব - ক্যান্টিনে আড্ডা আর কিছুটা সময় নিরালা নির্জনতাই একান্তে আলাপচারিতা … ক্ৰমে ঘনিষ্ঠতা -তারপর হৃদয়ের লেনদেন - যাকে আমরা বলি প্রেম ! সেসব ফেলে আসা দিন... দুজনে একসাথে এম,এ পাশ- তারপর কলেজ ত্যাগ ! মিলি বর্তমানে একটি হাই সেকেন্ডারী স্কুলের শিক্ষিকা ! না রঞ্জন কিন্তু শত চেষ্টা করেও একটি প্রাইমারি স্কুলেরও চাকরি জোটাতে পারেনি - তাই দীর্ঘ নয় দশ বছর ধরে প্রেম করেও চার হাত এক হয়নি !পুরুষতান্ত্রিক সমাজের সমস্যা একটাই স্ত্রীর চাকুরী করা -স্ত্রীর রোজাগারে -খাওয়া পরা ? পুরুষের মান ইজ্জতে বড় বাঁধা…এদিকে মিলির শ্যাম রাখি না কুল রাখি এই অবস্থা …হয় রঞ্জন নয় সমাজ যেকোন একটাকে ছাড়তেই হবে নাকি ? সম্পর্কের মোড় অন্যদিকে ?
