On January 19th, 2010, 22 year old Alexandra Tobias was playing Farmville on Facebook at home in Jacksonville, Florida when she was interrupted by the cries of her three month old baby, Dylan. She tried to silence him by shaking him roughly – hitting his head in the process.
The child fell unconscious and she placed a frantic call to 911. The child would be taken to the hospital where he would die the next day. Alexandra would be arrested for second degree murder.

On January 19th, 2010, 22 year old Alexandra Tobias was playing Farmville on Facebook at home in Jacksonville, Florida when she was interrupted by the cries of her three month old baby, Dylan. She tried to silence him by shaking him roughly – hitting his head in the process.
The child fell unconscious and she placed a frantic call to 911. The child would be taken to the hospital where he would die the next day. Alexandra would be arrested for second degree murder.
Just over a year later, on February 1st 2011, Tobias was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
He who is the most defenceless among us was murdered by his own mommy. And why? Because he was crying during a game of Fishville or Farmville or whatever was going on during Facebooking time that day,
the presiding Judge Adrian G Soud said.
In the time between the crime and the sentencing , news organizations across America picked up the story.
Why would Alexandra kill her baby?
EARLY LIFE
Tobias was born on August 11th 1988. Petite and thin, she was described by family and friends as 'fun-loving' and 'mischievous'.
Her parents divorced when she was five and one of her earliest memories was that of her mother throwing a plate at her father's head.'
Furthermore, Alex would reveal that she had been raped at a young age and her mother was often negligent in her care.
My mom was severely bi-polar. When she was at her low, which was pretty often, she would try to kill herself. And she did try to commit suicide a couple of times and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for the fact that her lows got so low,
Tobias recalled.
Alexandra felt rejection by her own mother,
forensic psychologist Paula Martin said. She thought that if her moher wanted to kill herself, if she wanted out of this life, then Alexandra herself must not be worth the trouble.
After a suicidal episode, Alexandra had confronted her mother with the admonition 'if you love me so much, then live for me.'
But on St Patrick's Day when she was 16, Tobias walked into
