Hiram Haddock was born in Puerto Rico in 1955 and attended school there. He is married to Violeta Ponce and four children: Hans, Hiram Jr, Adalice and Hanneloren. He started writing when he was in High School. He wrote poetry and short stories mainly. One of his short stories, "Rahim," got published. When was attending College at the Interamerican University from which he graduated with a Criminal Justice B.A. In 1979 he joined the US Army and served four years. He began his career in Law In 1989 and retired in 2012.

To my parents: Eli and Ada Haddock, my wife Violeta, and my children Hans, Hiram Jr, Adalice and Hanneloren. They were my motivation and my inspiration. Without them, I wouldn’t succeed. Thank you for believed and supported me not only while I was writing this but through my whole life.

Introduction

I had always love science fiction books since I was a teenager. My favorite writer was Isaac Asimov, I probably read 40 of his books, but I know he wrote over 400 books and short stories. Everyone that knew Asimov, and read his books understand why he was considered one of the greatest masters of science fiction, and to me, he was my idol, my inspiration, and he motivates me to read more about that subject. Humanity lost one of his greatest writers when Asimov died.

I started writing when I was in High School. I wrote mainly poetry and a few short stories. It was one of my short stories that got published in a College magazine. Rahim was the title of that short story. My literature professor motivated me to complete it after he read my manuscript. Then I wrote other things and, in the spring of 1993, I began to write this novel. It took me nine months to complete it. Originally it was written in Spanish.

Loran Yuseft is the story of a superhuman being with incredible powers created in the New Galactic Empire 2500 years after the Great War. In a fictional way, the author takes the reader to a new society designed to critic the leading institutions of humanity. He expressed his ideas about education, justice, science, and technology in modern society. As a former Law Enforcement agent, I utilized my expertise and background in Corrections, Police force, and my knowledge of the Court system to give the audience my views in those fields.

I wanted to get my book published, but it took me many years to do some editing and to get it ready. For many years it lay around getting dust like an old family Bible. I kept saying to myself "one day I’m going to get a translation software to translate my novel into the English language and participate in a writing contest, but that never got done, and the manuscript’s paper was turning yellow. Finally, at the beginning of the 2015 Spring, I picked up the old document, sat down and began to translate it into the English language without a translation software using my vocabulary. It took me three days to convert it, but I did it. My book will be self-published like many others. I feel confident about my work, and I hope my readers like it as much as I do. If you like it, please let me know, I want to hear from you, and that is going to be all the motivation I need for my next book. Enjoy it.

Chapter 1

Preamble

The year 2500 N.G.E. (New Galactic Empire)

The Great War was a very destructive war between the Aristocratic Military class and the New Growing Empire. There was no real winner in this war; only science was the winning edge. Out of the three hundred and fifty millions of human’s beings that survived it, fifty million were a scientist, and they managed to save most of the most significant Scientific advances of humans. After the Great War, humanity decided to create a New Galactic Empire with a new style of government.

Humans also introduced new methods of commerce and education. These new governments allow Internet companies to handled the education system; the government created new agencies to monitor these companies. Universities also changed their education methods to a computerized system achieving an individualized process for all areas of knowledge and allowing the students to learn at their own pace.

The commerce returned to the hands of private industries and like in the education field an agency was created to monitor its functions. Commerce has its transportation system to take its products across the galaxies.

Scientists ran the government, but some of them went to different colonies established across the galaxies because they were not sure about the stability of the new government system.

Travel through space was decidedly advance in this era; jump in space techniques was used to avoid that space trips lasted years or months depending on the distance. Men created Hiperatomic engines and new computerized travel system. Spaceships were of all shapes and sizes. You could travel in a space ship for ten people or in one for 4 thousand people with all kind of equipment and facilities.

As commerce progressed, industries also developed new nutritious and technological products. Science advanced like never before; the best security companies protected all these science advancement and inventions.

Every year the Intergalactic convention of Arts and Sciences was held. The convention shows: different products, new inventions, discoveries, and new theories, and all of this became the property of the government. Everything got secured with the most advanced security systems. The most prominent scientist, inventors, students and artist from every galaxy attended as well as any video reporters and historians to inform the rest of humanity.

Genetic engineering advanced very fast to the point that all human beings that come to a life designed with specific characteristics to become a being that would benefit the Galaxy and for this reason, science continues to progress with giant steps. Humans with super-intelligence were created and developed to produce new things or make discoveries in another field of sciences. Now you could pick the gender, the skin and the eyes color, the height. You even have the choice to select different skills and the intelligence level of your kids. Wealthy families, according to their class and social standing, could have better kids because they could provide them with anything.

Deceases and famines like Cancer, Diabetes, Aids, Parkinson, and Alzheimer decease among others were eliminated one way or another through scientific advancements.

Chapter 2

Capture

(Year 3754 N.G.E.)

Halfway thru the year 3754 of the new galactic empire Alev Radok, Dwin Kwon, Melkiv Botan, and Mikel Divey agents of the Intergalactic Federation completed an investigation that lasts two years and arrested Loran Yuseft, an intergalactic criminal from the Alpha Centaury System.

Loran Yuseft a human, race black, 2.13 meters high, blue eyes, blond hair, long nose, thin lips, body type muscular, and weighed one hundred thirty kilos at the time of his arrest. Yuseft was an Electronic Dynamic Engineer who graduated at the Gromanona University in the Alpha Centaury System. During his last year of studies, he developed telepathic powers that allow him to induce electromagnetic waves across the Internet getting access to advanced secrets systems and then sell them to the best buyer in the Black Market.

Loran belongs to a wealthy family; his parents were Dolmitri and Dafnee high-class people and with a lot of power in the community in which they live.

The Yuseft’s despite being influential business people, very influent in the Interplanetary Federation they waited a long time to get their Genetic Application approved. In this Era, if you wanted a child, a Genetic Application needed to be submitted and approved by the proper authorities. Dafnee wanted her son to be produced with genes of the best quality, using the best technology and above all, she asked Dolmitri that her boy is from the Black race. These types of genes were of the highest quality and the most difficult to find in the Galaxy, and for this reason, their application took longer than average.

When Loran was born, his parents programmed his education in the best companies on the Internet, and this is how his preparation began. These companies conducted their education business at the children’s home connecting them with cables and attaching electrodes to the child’s temples in that way as the child sleeps his brain got programmed. He was ten years old when he got his first accident at his father laboratory, Loran was attempting to transmit commands utilizing electronics waves but something happened, and he received electric charges in his forehead. At age twelve he was registered at the Gromanona University this is where his second accident took place almost in similar circumstances. His third accident happened at his father’s laboratory. Loran used to connect himself with cables and links to the computer, and this time he was attempting to send commands to the central computer at the Gromanona University suddenly there was an electrical failure to the generator that supplies power to the laboratory. This overcharge also impacted Loran’s brain leaving him unconscious for several minutes when he recovered, he disconnected himself from the computer and never informed his father about this incident, time went by, and two years later he became an Electrodynamic Engineer.

Chapter 3

One Thousand Fifteen Years Later

Zuraya Planet (3715 N.G.E.)

Dolmitri Yuseft established his residence in a city named Gabaon in the Tarsi Province of the Zuraya Planet which was part of the Alpha Centaury and the Ruyano system. At forty-five years of age, he was a powerful man; he measured 2.05 meters, blond hair, blue eyes, straight nose, good appearance, a lovable man but with character, a commanding aptitude and very organized. He created his fortune. He was the founder of his company Surima. He was in the importing and exporting business of all kind of products at the intergalactic level. Because of his standing as a businessman in the Intergalactic Federation, he possessed his own Space Port, space ships, an elegant mansion with a private Lab, ground transportation, Robots to execute all kind of task and transactions.

Dafnee also came from an influential family. She was a tall, and slim woman with green eyes, pearl teeth and full lips, she was elegant, beautiful like every woman of high social standing. Her descendants had been part of the government officials before the Great War; they were companies and business owners. This business passed from one family to another through thousands of years. When her uncle Galibal Gondres die, she became the owner of all the family’s companies because she was sore survival, she also inherited all the stocks of the Hypothalamus Investigation Company of the Internet.

While gathered in the living room Dafnee told Dolmitri: Is time to submit our Genetic Application to the government. All my friends got their petition processed and in the waiting list, and I don’t want to be left behind. I want my son to be extraordinary, not like the others. I had thought a lot about this, and I got lots of ideas in my mind.

Dafnee you know how I feel about this subject. I had never liked these rare ideas of the Empire; in my parent’s days’ kids born naturally into the world, there were not some many requirements. Replied Dolmitri without paying too much attention to the subject.

"None the less they were many institutions of social reforms, and the government could not deal with all the criminals, but the ones that are now it is because of genetics faults they could not foresee in their beginnings, but with the advancements, we got now are with minimal errors.

No problem will do as you please, replied Dolmitri as he watched the news capsules of the Intergalactic transmission.

Chapter 4

Arrival

(Year 3718 – 3719 N.G.E.)

Farino Marchan, the Director of the Genetic Commission of the government, was a very responsible man with his job, and this morning he found himself thinking and questioning himself. He was a medium-high man, and this gave the impression that he was wise; he got brown eyes, medium lips, and dark hair. He instead wears glasses (not minding the technological advances in the vision field) which appear to be resting in his long nose, and his prominent figure completed his old-time appearance, people from this era were athletic, the aerobic exercise had become a vital part of every human. Farino was looking out through his office window and was thinking in a solution for the problem at hand. Mrs. Yuseft had communicated with his office for the second time this week and was asking insistently for her application; she was demanding an explanation for the delate in her request. I know what I’m going to do, said Farino while walking toward his desk. The only place that we can find the genes that contain the characteristic for black skin is the planet of origin; Planet Earth He continues to talk to himself.

The same day He sends an electronic message to Brazilia, the importation company, to find out if they will still be exporting products, materials, and other goods from planet Earth.

Before the day was over, Klorein, his secretary informed him that Polo Galo from the Brazilia Company was at the intercommunicator. Polo was very punctual and peculiar; he accomplished his duties especially those dealing with his job. Polo always dressed. Accordingly, he was very stylish, whatever was in the style he would wear. During his college days, Polo was called red because of his hair color, his eyes that are green like the sea. And makes him very popular; he has fleshy lips and sensual like those the women like but he was more into his sex, he didn’t like women, and that is why they were excellent friends in the University.

Farino asked Klorein to put Polo to his office main communicator screen. He wondered if they were still good friends?

__ Greetings, how can I help you, said Polo.

__ I need your help Farino continues, Mrs. Yuseft submitted a Genetic Application to my department, and it was approved, but it has been difficult to obtain the genes from the black race that she wishes, and I thought that if someone could help it would be you."

In 3719 N.G.E. the Yuseft’s received a beautiful child, black like they wanted with blue eyes and straight blond hair. The child was named Loran Yuseft.

Chapter 5

Sades

(3722 – 3731 N.G.E.)

Dolmitri and Dafnee joined their efforts to find the best cybernetic education company in the Galaxy. Among all the Internet companies they found they decided to hire Premon Learning Industries. Premon Learning Industries, located in Sades, sector of the Zuraya planet where many Internet companies had their main facilities. They were well known because they were the pioneers of the REM system. This system teaches the kid during day time or at nights when the child was asleep. When the child was sleeping the teachings were injected using sensorial cables coming from the computer into the kid forehead, and the company transmitted images and sounds directly into the child’s brain making sure the child acquired and stored the knowledge directly in his memory. Allowing the child to obtain and retained understanding at a superior speed than other systems used in the past. At day time the child was tested to find out if he has assimilated the teachings he received at night time. That is how Loran began his cybernetic education.

Three years after his birth Premon AIndustries programmed his system with all the necessary data to get Loran the knowledge he needed to approve his secondary education and to prepare him for college. Loran’s training involved sciences, mathematics, and computer programming.

In 3722 N.G.E. Loran began his primary and secondary education, nine years later he had completed it.

Dafnee was sitting in the entertainment room watching the intergalactic news; Dolmitri was checking his stocks, and Dafnee’s shares in his hands held Tablet, while Loran played his tridimensional electronics games.

Have you thought about a present for Loran, you know he completed his secondary education with excellent grades commented Dafnee.

No, I have concentrated all my energy in finding him a good apartment with all the necessary facilities so he won’t be lacking anything, and be able to complete his college degree" responded Dolmitri.

Loran was too involved in his electronic games and wasn’t paying any attention to his parent’s conversation.

__ Loran what do you wish as the price for your good grades? said Dafnee.

__ Only one thing mom, I want to attend to the annual Science’s Convention that will take place at the Proxima Centaury Region, answered Loran putting back all his attention into his game.

__ I believe that this is possible, what do you think about this Dolmitri? responded Dafnee.

__ "I don’t know, this convention last two weeks and I had expended a lot of credits preparing everything for Loran’s college, expressed Dolmitri looking straight at Dafnee.

__ Now what is going on? You never had a complaint to give anything to our son.

__ We’ll talk about this later Dafnee; I don’t think this is the proper moment or appropriated place to do this.

__ What is going on honey if there something I don’t know about it said it now.

__ Like I said we’ll talk about it later, whenever we are alone and got more time to discuss the subject. Our son is present and is not convenient to talk about it now. We need privacy to discuss this situation.

Meanwhile, Loran had fallen as sleep while playing his games.

Chapter 6

Gromanona University

Alpha Centaury System (3731 – 3733 N.G.E.)

__ Ok, Loran, I believe this is all the things you decided to bring here. Do you like the apartment?

__ Yes dad, everything is like you described it to me, what I like the most is the Lab because it is located right behind the entertainment room, and the two guest rooms in case some friends want to stay with me for a few days. The kitchen is well equipped, and I would like to have Astadolpho with me instead of Karmelo. I know Karmelo is more advanced as a robot but I consider Astadolpho to be a better cook, and I know him since I was a child. I also love the Balcony from which you have a view of the University Campus, it is sensational I think I would spend some afternoons here watching everything from there but what concerns me the most is my lab equipment when it will be here? You know that next week my courses will begin and I don’t want to get behind. Said Loran with a sad look in his big blue eyes.

__ Like I promised you’ll have everything within this week now the important thing is that you get situated and get some rest, make good use of the time you have, and eat well and go to bed early like you promised your mother. Also, remember not to play your electronic games during weekdays as you also promised, you stated that you would only play on weekends depending on your schedule because if you had a test or work to get done that will be your priority. Loran turned on the video receptor and lay on the couch to watch the news but didn’t pay too much attention to the Intergalactic news because he was thinking about something his father said before he left.

Also, why in the beginning he opposed attending the Science Convention? And then during the convention, he took a lot of time keeping track of the money they were spending. Dad never behaves that way; he was never a concern about their finances. Why didn’t mom accompany us on this trip to the University? Why did she have to attend to a company business meeting? That wasn’t her style; she was always satisfied with just to read the electronic reports the company adjuster sent her. She has always been present in anything that has to do with him, and she was the one giving him a sermon, not dad, she never sent her instructions with him, something was going on. Lately, his parent behavior was kind of strange. The other day I think I heard they mentioned something about her company stocks were going down, but that was never an issue to be a concern; they had never worry about things like that. They had more money than they could spend in a lifetime. Anyway, why I’m worried about this too? They will be ok, maybe they just getting old" said again to himself. He was getting tired and fell asleep in that state of mind.

Hours later he woke up, That was a very nice siesta, he said to himself. The video receptor was still on, and Loran noticed that they were talking about the stock market and began to pay attention. Suddenly he noticed that the stocks of the Hypothalamus Investigation Company were losing their value nothing too substantial according to his interpretation. He also noticed that the stocks of the Surima company had also gone down but it wasn’t enough to be a concern, this happened all the time the stocks go up and down like a Jojo in the stock market.

Hey, I should not worry about this things, mom and dad know what they are doing, at the end everything is going to be alright, now I just need to concentrate in my education, said Loran to himself.

In the meantime, Loran began to put his luggage and other things in the apartment. A few minutes later the doorbell rang. Loran then checked the video – identificatory. He saw a young man of approximately twelve years old, tall, blond, with golden skin, pointy nose, and yellow eyes — this young man dressed well in pants and a shirt that appears to be of a plastic material. At the entrance, there was also a young female possibly of the same age, medium height, pink like skin, long hair brown, straight but short nose, and brown eyes. She was wearing a mini skirt and a blouse of some transparent material.

"What do you want? You have asked Loran without pressing the control access switch.

We had come to know you, we saw you moving in and decided to give you some time to put your things away, but now we are here to invite you for a walk with us responded the young woman.

Why do you wanted to know me? I’m a stranger to you, and my parents don’t want me to talk to strangers said Loran.

Loran bussed them in, and both youngsters entered immediately. Wow what a beautiful apartment you have, your parents must have a lot of money, said the young lady.

My name is Lidoris Kwen, and my friend is Tomir Canto. I come from planet Hubble of the Adriano system in the Andromeda galaxy. Tomir is from planet Virgo in the Plineo system of the Magellan galaxy.

"I am Loran Yuseft from the Zuraya planet in the Alpha Centaury system of the Milky Way galaxy.

Very well and what are you going to study, said Tomir talking for the first time.

Engineering in electrodynamic computation, I love computers, and I think there is a lot to do in that field responded Loran.

I want to study engineering in intergalactic communications to design, create and run my own video intergalactic company added Lidoris. But we will have enough time later to talk about these things now let go for a walk through the campus before we lost the last few hours of sunlight that are left continue Lidoris.

The three youngsters left together and were chatting while exploring the University facilities, that day a deep friendship was born among them, an association that would last all their life.

One and a half year later Lidoris, Tomir, and Loran were together in Loran’s apartment.

Lidoris, Tomir, come let’s play Kimar, the new electronic game from Astro, said Loran.

Oh, when did you get it? I had played the demos on this game, but I had not played the real game yet said Tomir.

"Another game, come on guys when are you going to grow up? Said Lidoris while walking toward the video where Tomir and Loran were about to play the new game. They were always playing games that was their favorite past time other than studying they spent hours on these video games, but it did not affect their grades; they were brilliant. Lidoris got to the middle recliner in the room and sat down to watch her friends play the new game.

Tomir showed great ability passing the different obstacles he found in the game. But there were very complicated parts of the game that would require playing the game many times before you can have passed it all. For Loran, it would only take one time playing the game to catch it all. He had always done the same with every game they played or in any computerized operation. He would always find short cuts for anything, and this amazed them. In the University they had heard all kind of stories about Loran, stories about how he impressively motivates his professors by discovering, inventing and implementing advances in the field of electrodynamic engineering without even graduating yet in his degree.

My dear friends, I want to show you something, but first you must promise me that no matter what you see that will never tell anyone what I’m going to show you; Not even my parents know this, said Loran seating in the entertainment living room next to Lidoris and Tomir.

"What is it? Said Lidoris.

"What is the big secret? Added Tomir.

Before I said anything you must promise me; you must agree to keep my secret no matter what stated Loran.

Yes, we promise responded Tomir and Lidoris at the same time.

Very well, allow me to start the video, said Loran connecting the new video game that they had played in the afternoon.

This is awesome Loran; this computerized system, created a long time ago, and no one had never been able to do this. In the beginning, commands were transmitted to the computers using a card with holes, and then using a keyboard, and later by voice recognition, but this is incredible said Lidoris.

And what else can you do? Have you ever entered or gained access to any of the companies on the Internet? Commented Tomir.

No, I don’t know yet, I haven’t tried it yet, I haven’t needed to, I only do this with the games, but I believe that if I try, I can do it also on the Internet, said Loran.

Kalganic Province

Kaptus Hotel and Casino (3733 N.G.E.)

Kaptus Hotel was probably one of the most excellent hotels in the Universe. It is entirely electronic and attended by Robots specially designed to execute the task of this type of Casino. The Robots used at this hotel are the ones called Humanoids because they look exactly like humans. They dressed up with uniforms according to their task, and the ones that are working in the management department dressed up with suit and tie.

The players or gamblers, entered the Casino to register using their documents and financial information including bank accounts. At that point, they were given a Casino Card that allows them to play in every area of the Casino.

The slot machines no longer use coins. You introduced a card with a unique code, and the credits were discounted directly from the person’s account in the Intergalactic Bank. The individual account of the person playing was deducted or added the winnings depending on the situation. Since all the games designed like this, there was no need for croupiers or another type of employees in the Casino.

Mrs. Yuseft we cannot extend your credit again, you still owed us for what happened two weeks ago. I intend to communicate with your husband immediately Mrs. Yuseft replied Hall.

Hall dialed a series of numbers in his video communicator, and immediately Dolmitri image appears in the screen.

What can I do for you, Mr. Hall? Don’t tell me that my wife is there again?

Tarsis was a coastal province with fifty million populations. It has several spaceports, many luxury hotels, banks, malls, and commercial Internet centers, Hiperatomic energy stations, and the best mansions of the planet were also in this area. In addition to that, you can find here many of the Intergalactic government agencies among those, for example, The Federation of Intergalactic Criminal Investigation (F.I.C.I.), and the main intergalactic penitentiary The Ultratomb.
