The medical needs of wounded soldiers during WWII caused military hospitals at home and on battle fronts to take on many doctors, nurses and ancillary healthcare workers. Margaret Drake first moved to Hawaii in 1968 to teach. She returned to the US mainland in 1972 for occupational therapy education and worked in that field for thirty-two years. After retiring, she returned to Hawaii. Drake has written professional books and stories for adults and children.
