    Criminal Defense Investigation

    You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to be represented by an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed to you free of charge.

    Nothing is more challenging than the pursuit of truth in a criminal defense investigation. Anything less than a well-planned execution of proper investigative technique is inexcusable in preparing a criminal defendant’s defense.

    Types of Criminal Defense Investigations

    There are basically three types of Criminal Defense Investigation. Each is dictated by the type of billing involved, i.e., who is billed and how are they billed?

    Pro Bono

    The first type is a pro bono (free) investigation. These type of investigations usually, but not necessarily, are on behalf of a moral (or immoral) conviction, belief or cause.

    Court Appointed

    The second type is referred to as alternative defense or court appointed investigation. This is a type of Investigation where the private attorney (who qualifies as a panel conflict attorney) accepts a criminal case on behalf of an indigent client, usually due to a conflict of interest with the public defender’s office. An investigator can also be appointed to a client who is self-represented or proper.
