Author's Note
Who is Kim Jong un?
He is the ruler of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea.
Before his summit with U.S. President Trump in Singapore in June 2018, many Western people regarded Kim as an immature young brutal dictator who raises military tensions with atomic bombs.
Their perception of Kim, however, changed somewhat after the summit.
Since having revealed himself before thousands of reporters in Singapore, the North Korean ruler has blown away the negative image in the western and become an important figure in the international political community.
Kim led the U.S. into negotiations after proclaiming the development of the nuclear bombs and the ICBM(Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that can reach and attack the homeland of the U.S.
North Korea is a poor and small nation in Asia. Yet it is the only nation in the world that has threatened the U.S. by atomic weapons. Even the Soviet Union in the past and present China never made such a blunt threat to the U.S.
Kim raised sharply military tensions in 2017 by exchanging hostile and insulting words with President Trump. At the time, the possibility of the second Korean war between North Korea and the U.S. was at its peak since the Korean war ended in 1953.
But suddenly, Kim and Trump decided to have the summit in 2018. It would be one of the most breathtaking shifts in international diplomacy history.
Before and after the summit, Kim Jong Un has become an important player in international politics. Many wondered, who is Kim Jong Un?
and What the hell does Kim Jong un have in his mind?
Detailed and close personal information on Kim is extremely minimal. Even CIA officials confess it is almost impossible to approach and get high-quality close personal information about Kim. The North Korean regime has put strictest control on the flow of information on Kim.
In the world, only three or four people may be able to hear or felt Kim’s innermost thoughts. Even that would be only part of his thoughts.
A lot of people in the world want to feel and understand the bottom of Kim’s heart. People want to know what is going round and round in his head.
This book Kim Jong Un’s Secretive Diary
is written on the belief that the author’s imagination and intuition
can be a tool to bring up what is in someone’s mind and head.
As the author, I didn’t care about his political belief and argument are right or not. I made efforts to hear Kim’s inner voices and find his thoughts and gradually came to understand some part of his ambition, desire, needs, and fear.
I hope readers understand this book doesn’t and can’t represent exactly Kim’s mind and inner voice. Some part of this book is wrong, and the other might be right.
Many Western readers cannot understand and accept Kim’s thoughts expressed in this book. An ordinary citizen in a democratic society would not accept Kim’s ruling style. It is a natural response.
Many Western people, including information analysts at governments, had mindsets that have been long cultivated in the free and democratic political system.
But Kim is not a citizen in a free society. He is not a political leader selected by a free election.
Kim Jong Un is someone like a king in a unique society- A Confucian Dynastic Socialist nation.
The Western mass media produced a lot of distorted images of Kim for years. Some readers have long been influenced by the bad image and stories mass media produced.
The Korean people have survived the invasion of neighboring powers for thousands of years. They suffered Japan’s colonial life from 1910 to 1945 and the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
Kim believes that South Korea has been controlled by the U.S. since 1945 and must be liberated and unified by North Korea.
He is confident he is the only and last man to protect the nation against aggressors such as the U.S, Japan, and China, feeling the strong burden and responsibility to make the country economically prosperous.
If understanding Kim's fate as the national leader from birth and the political environments surrounding North Korea, readers comprehend Kim’s inner thoughts and voice in this book a little more. Yet you don’t have to follow and accept his thoughts necessarily. Just understanding is enough.
The imaginary diary in this book covers the period from June 10 to July 15, 2018. This is one of the most important periods between North Korea- the U.S. relation.
A series of books covering subsequent periods will continue to be published. The writer's imagination and insight are the best tool to hear, sense, and understand a human.
This series probably will end when Kim Jong Un’s fate is decided.
How will his life end? It is an important subject in this book.
I worried about some possible damages If my identity is revealed.
Anony is a coined word from Anonymous.
I hope readers understand why I should conceal my real name.
Candid writing on Kim Jong Un is still a dangerous job.
Nevertheless, I’d like to hear readers’ opinions on this book.

It was a great reality show.
Looking at the clock on the desk, it is 1:30 a.m.
Today I had a historic summit with President Trump in Singapore.
I am writing this diary on a flight on the way to my home country, North Korea.
This diary will be valuable material to understand how I have fought for the prosperity and unification of my country, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea.
A little while ago, I closed a meeting with my entourage in exchanging views about today's summit. Everyone agreed it was a great success. But we had to be cautious about bugging because we are on board on the airplane offered by the Chinese government.
Yes, the talks with Trump was satisfactory and successful.
I’m the first North Korean leader to have a one-on-one meeting with the U.S President. The Summit meeting with the U.S. president is a great achievement to me, which even my grandfather Kim Il-sung and my father Kim Jong-il couldn’t have.
Trump also has the honor to be the first U.S President who has talks with the DPRK supreme leader. No sitting American president had ever met with a North Korean leader. It took almost 70 years for the two nations’ leaders to sit together for talks.
I set up some goals to prepare for the summit. The first was to neutralize possible U.S. military attacks to north Korea. The great power has the tendency to use what it's greatest, namely, its firepower, destructive power.
My second goal was to let the world know that DPRK wants to avoid a war with the U.S. and live peacefully with other countries.
And thirdly, I want to change my distorted image to a peace-loving young reformer. For a long time, the west commercial media have branded me a cruel dictator without blood or tears.
My objectives have been mostly attained. President Trump promised to suspend joint military exercises with South Korean forces which have long plagued DPRK. He also promised to declare the end of the Korean War soon.
In the joint statement, President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK.
I believe the summit meeting will surely become a barrier for the U.S to take any kind of military actions to DPRK from now on, so-called blood nose operation, surgical strike, preemptive strike, and preventive war.
Sitting at the desk on the plane, I recalled what I had prepared for the summit and happened today.
Mr. Trump is a good guy. He is a gentleman. He is different from other the U.S. presidents.
I had been a little nervous as the meeting with Trump was getting closer.
However, I wasn’t scared, or frightened
Preparing for talks with Trump, I always recalled this: I was the naturally born supreme leader. I have ruled and will govern north Korea for my lifetime. Trump, however, is just a manager whose term is only eight years at the longest. Trump, 71, is nothing but a twinkling and dying star. But I am in mid 30s. I am the shining sun and could rule over my country for the next 50 years.
I remembered he said in the beginning of the talks, the one-on-one meeting is very positive,
and added we will have direct contact over the telephone thereafter.
After hearing his remarks, I laughed myself in a good mood. I sensed good results of the meeting. I replied, Your Excellency is different from the predecessors who never shown any leadership to hold the summit.
Trump said, Obama made significant mistakes on North Korea, without even talking first and I know we are going to get along almost immediately.
I felt Trump was making his efforts to keep the atmosphere good.
As expectedly, he has a strong competitive spirit with other U.S. presidents, especially with Mr. Obama.
I asked an important question that I had prepared.
Mr. President, what do you think about me?
You are smart, quite secretive, a very good person, totally sincere, with a great personality.
Trump’s reply was great, and far better than I expected. I know his remarks are something like lip service. But I felt good anyway. Everyone feels good when getting compliments. Isn’t it natural to feel good about being praised by the U.S President?
I could sense he was earnest for the talks and I was confident he would not walk away in minutes.
I began emphasizing that I have been committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Problem was, however, that there have been so many people in the U.S who doubted my sincerity with judging my intention by the old standards.
I stressed, I am different from the previous North Korean leaders.
The President agreed, saying, You have changed things totally.
Inspired by his consent, I pointed out, The hostile policies of past U.S. administrations are the main reason of the troubles between North Korea and the U.S. If we meet frequently, we can dispel mistrust and speed up the pace of denuclearization.
To my surprise, Trump agreed with my criticisms of the past U.S. administrations.
He said, There are some very militant people on the U.S. side.
I sensed it was the time to criticize the U.S. military exercise around the Korean peninsula. First, I said, "I have also domestic political hurdles I cannot easily overcome because there are hardliners in North Korea as well as
