About this ebook

The not-so-old man has issues.
Ernest Hemingway has answers.
Answers that may—or may not—save the not-so-old man’s life.

Climb into the mind of one of the greatest writers of all time, Ernest Hemingway, in this imaginative and historically accurate thriller. The story picks up where Hemingway’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Old Man and the Sea left off. But this novel isn’t about an old fisherman fighting a giant marlin, but a not-so-old man fighting his tragic past and an unseen evil poised to destroy him.

“Beautifully written and very heartwarming.” Beta-reader
“Every writer should read this book!” U.K Book Review

Daniel is an ex-champion swimmer who sets out on a long swim at sundown to forget two heartbreaking tragedies that ruined his life. To escape his depression, he ponders the moon and stars and recounts his trip to Paris when he retraced the life of his favorite writer, Ernest Hemingway (aka, Papa). From his early childhood when his mother dressed him as a girl to his controversial suicide, all 61 years of Hemingway's life are weaved into a fast-paced, psychological drama that inspires as much as it surprises.

You’ll meet the four women he married and learn how each influenced his writing. You’ll not just learn about his safaris, bullfights, and deep-sea fishing, but feel the sweaty palms and pounding heart of the struggles as if you were standing right next to Papa. The Italian Front in WWI, courting his first wife Hadley, the Normandy invasion, Martha Gellhorn and Finca Vigia, the Spanish Civil War, skiing in Austria, and ex-pat life in Paris with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein, and Pablo Picasso, all come to life in revealing, sometimes humorous scenes.

As the not-so-old man swims, his recollections of Papa (and his suicide that really wasn't) inspire him to confront his heartache. But just as he's beginning to understand himself—and life—like never before, he suddenly finds himself in a surreal, life or death struggle in the middle of the sea. Columbian drug runners? A cargo ship bearing down on him? An angry marlin looking for revenge? Hemingway’s words echo in his head. Will they inspire him to rally the strength of will to survive? Or make him realize he’s just like many of Hemingway’s characters who, no matter what they did, were meant to die all along? The not-so-old man’s strength is fading. His will is weakening. And his mind just might become Hemingway’s mind too.

It's finally time to really experience Hemingway:
•The personalities of each of his four wives come to life as you relive tender, loving, sometimes volatile scenes.
•Learn his four rules for being a good writer and two writing strategies that made his writing stand apart.
•Famous quotes and keen focus on his two most potent philosophies.
•You'll visit the Parisian café where he wrote much of his first novel and enjoy a drink with some of his Parisian friends.
•Hemingway loved cats—which was his favorite?
•What did his housekeepers, gardeners, and friends really think of him?
•What Venetian princess did he have a platonic (plus hugging and kissing) relationship with, shamelessly in front of his wife?
•How much did he weigh in March 1960 and where was it written (hint: not on paper)?
•Photos of historic Hemingway places and the Hemingway Family Tree.
•And, the unpublicized medical discovery that caused him to commit suicide!

“Highly recommended reading.” Midwest Book Review
“A magical blend of fact and fantasy brings Papa's spirit to life.” Beta-reader
“There are many biographies on Hemingway, but none as exciting and fun as this!” Reader
