Virtually Real - Lara Herrera
Do you want to run one more?
Andrea asked, her voice abnormally loud because of the headphones she was wearing.
Andy, sweetie. We already run three,
Carlos, in the technician’s booth, answered. Go home, rest. We’ll call you back in probably two weeks or at the end of the month.
I’m fine. I’m good to go.
Closing her eyes, she willed her body not to betray her. Breathing deeply, she was able to control the shudders that threatened to rip through her.
You seem to think we got more sims than we do. Go on, go home.
But-
No. You’ve already run too many sims in one go. Don’t make me call Dom or you know he’ll keep you off the schedule for a month.
Carlos’ tone was teasing, but Andrea heard the hint of concern under his words. Andrea sighed. It was pointless to continue arguing. The facility’s owner, Dominic Rigetti, was a stickler for keeping to the rules regarding virtual reality testing and wouldn’t appreciate the fact that Carlos and the others had been allowing her to pull extra tests, let alone multiple tests in one day. Slowly and carefully she removed the sensors from her tawny skin before lifting the headpiece off, ensuring that none of her dark brown hair got pulled out accidentally. She hoped that the VR devices that the general public wore were less cumbersome than what she had to wear; the state-of-the-art equipment was a complete bitch to get on
