CREEPY CUTE CROCHET contains instructions for twenty-one creepy little crocheted dolls. I haven't yet tried any of the patterns, but they look easy enough to follow. Haden provides standard patterns for bodies, heads and arms; dolls with special features, like helmets or tentacles, also have more detailed instructions for how the crocheter should modify the basic patterns to achieve these effects. She also provides detailed written instructions for assembling each doll, with illustrations accompanying each step.She also provides some basic crochet instructions and a hook size conversion chart, but she makes it clear that this is not a book for those looking to teach themselves crochet. Beginners will definitely find enough patterns here to satisfy their creative urges, but even the simplest pieces assume some prior knowledge of crochet.I had a great time looking through the patterns and deciding what I'd like to make. Cthulhu's definitely my holy grail of crocheted dolls, but I imagine I'll give the others a go one of these days. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone looking for an edgier crochet book. Super, super cute. I think the assembly skills are a little beyond me at the moment, but I really like the ideas! It's possible the number of stars could change depending on how complete the instructions are (which I won't know until I try one) but they look good for now.

Very cute projects. I've already made three or four of them, plus used the basic patterns to create creatures not in the book. Be sure to check out the author's blog, as well, for additional tutorials and patterns.
