- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5How did I survive this long without new material of An Ember in the Ashes?! ? I will read anything set in this dangerous world - especially if Elias is part of it. ?
The Thief Among the Trees is such a nice prequel. Long-missing characters return (it pierced my heart thinking about how damaged they will become) and the awful deeds of the Empire are once again exposed. I loved that Elias was the same Elias we met back in the first book - he always had doubts about the Empire and in this graphic novel he doesn't shy from speaking up. Of course, Helena was also the Helena we met, the girl who believed in the Empire and that there was no bigger honour than becoming a Martial.
Needless to say, I'm even more excited about the fourth book in the series - even if I'm one hundred percent sure it will shatter me.1 person found this helpful
