Applause

Ravaged by hunger and hypothermia, a young woman sits on a sidewalk ,head slumped to beg her rumbling stomach to be patient, seconds away from consuming itself. Faces roll by, one by one, each ignoring her dark brown skin as though she isn't there or shouldn't be. She has no name or at least doesn't deserve one yet as each glides by, averting her like a heap of human garbage. They do nothing, say nothing and give even less, until she hatches a plan; one that leads her on an infinite trajectory in pursuit of glory and gratification , each at the expense of her own mortality.
