Jamesha Ross
Jamesha has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years and a Nurse Manager for 14 years. After completing her BSN in 1999 and her MBA in 2007, she obtained her Occupational Health Nurse Specialist Certification in 2010. She has worked in acute care settings (pulmonary, oncology, telemetry, neurology, orthopedics, and medical-surgical), long term acute care, insurance pre-certification, training, auditing, and management during her career. Jamesha’s team is responsible the occupational health and programs for a population of 4,000 patients. Her leadership style is a combination of servant and transformational. Most of her work is in teambuilding, conflict resolution, mindfulness, change management, self-development, nurse and health coaching, weight loss, and emotional intelligence.Defying the statistics, Jamesha overcame child abuse, teenage pregnancy at 14, gang violence at 16, and domestic violence. She is a wife and mother. She is developing a simple scheduling solution, The Schedule Book App, that makes it easy for staff nurses to self-schedule and fill staffing gaps. This was inspired by the pain point of nurse management spending so much time on scheduling and staffing issues. Jamesha’s second book, The Subtle Art of Living Your Best Life: A simple method to get, use, and keep a good attitude, is set to release in the summer of 2020.Jamesha has started her speaking career with church youth groups and students to motivate and discover purpose. This is what motivated her to write a book. She enjoys inspiring teens and professional nurses to achieve their purpose-driven goals and focus on the future. She has a passion for first time managers succeeding. It is a very dynamic transition from staff nurse to nurse manager that helps with self-discovery.She was a six-year member of the Board of Directors for The Margaret Hudson Program. A school for pregnant and parenting teens between the ages of 12 and 19. There is a soft spot in her heart for every teen that is juggling parenthood and high school. She feels that it is imperative to give back to the community and fill the gap when possible. She hopes to put more programming in place to prevent teenage pregnancy with awareness and education and break the cycle of teenage pregnancy.Seeing the number of deaths increase due to hospital acquired infections, she decided to develop an innovative soap, Sudssee Soap, LLC. This soap will make it easy for healthcare workers to comply with proper handwashing. The soap innovation won second place at the Johnson & Johnson sponsored SONSIEL Nurse Hackathon in November 2019. This event had 200 nurses in attendance with 17 innovations competing. She has a 30-day online course, From Survival Mode To Living Your Best Life. This course is for people that feel stuck and want more in life to be resilient, feel balanced, end the habit of procrastination, the vicious cycle of poverty and build a legacy that inspires.
