    PROLOGUE

I woke up today without one bout of nerves. No jitters. No worries. Today I am getting married to an amazing man who is loyal, kind, hardworking, and best of all, he loves me. How did I get to be the lucky woman who landed this wonderful man?

As I lie in bed in my old bedroom at my parents’ house, I was thinking about how my day would be. Mom knocked then opened the bedroom door.

Good morning, sweetheart. How did you sleep last night?

Mom was so gentle and kind. She never yelled at me or my twin brother, Tyson. She always had a way of getting her point across. The tone of her voice changed a little and the look on her face became very stern and she would wrinkle up her nose a bit and it would bunch up between her eyes.

I slept like a rock. What time is it?

Seven o’clock, time for you to get up. The coffee is on. Would you like anything special for breakfast?

Mom always made sure that breakfast, lunch, and dinner was prepared for us when we were kids. She worked from home as a seamstress and could create just about anything you wanted. She made my wedding dress, my beautiful ivory lace wedding dress. It was simple yet elegant: shallow neckline, scooped back, long sleeves. The fitted bodice and A-line skirt with the smallest of trains fit perfectly. It accentuated my tall, lithe frame.

Just a cup of coffee and a bagel for me. Thanks, Mom.

I went straight to the shower and enjoyed the water as I shaved my legs. I wanted to make sure everything was nice and tidy. Afterward I lotion up and dressed in a comfortable pair of blue satin pj’s. I had to blow dry my hair, I was going to do my own hair. As a cosmetologist, I saw no reason to go to another hairdresser. A simple French twist and a crystal hair clip to the side would work beautifully. My best friend, Molly, was my maid of honor and since she was in business with me, I knew she’d do her own hair, too and she was going to mom’s hair.

I walked into the kitchen and saw mom had my coffee and bagel on the table waiting for me. Dad was busy making breakfast for himself and ma. Just as I sat down to eat, my brother Tyson flew through the door.

There’s my little sister. He came over to me and gave me a big kiss on the cheek.

Tyson, you are four minutes older than me.

That maybe the case, little sis, but I’m still older. I just stopped in to see how you are and to delivery this.

Tyson handed me a note and a tiny blue velvet box. I opened the card and read it.

Hello, my love. Since I couldn’t see you this morning I still wanted you to know I’m thinking about what a lucky man I am to be marrying you. I love you so much and will see you in a few hours. All my love, Logan.

I slowly opened the box to find the most beautiful pair of blue sapphire stud earrings and matching teardrop necklace. It was perfect for my something blue.

Oh my God, Mom, look! I handed my mom the box and saw her eyes mist over.

You are one lucky lady, Tipper.

I knew just how lucky I was, thanks to Tyson, of all people. My brother followed in Dad’s footsteps. He went to college, majoring in Criminal Justice and meet Logan, my soon-to-be husband, was Tyson’s roommate. They were inseparable in college until, Logan and I hung out one day and the
