    - Prologue -

    The Hymn of the Pearl, also known as The Hymn of the Soul, is a poem belonging to Syrian and Greek manuscripts of The Acts of Thomas that is part of the gnostic apocryphal scripts left out of the main canon of the Bible, the authoritative collection of Jewish and early Christian texts. In The Acts of Thomas the apostle Thomas sings the Hymn as he prays for himself and his fellow prisoners.

    In this booklet I have adapted The Hymn of the Pearl to better show my own interpretive understanding of the text while honouring
