In this fast paced prequel to the "King for a Day" short stories,the AI Sentinel endeavors to keep the power of the King of Athenia in check. Tasked with preventing the seemingly kind King Kronos from becoming a full-fledged tyrant, he uses humans to accomplish his will: a grieving huntress, a lonely prince, and a criminal. He sets the stage for those three humans to take down a king. They just need to survive long enough to do it.
While Sentinel is highly respected, he's not fully trusted. Helios, the son of Kronos, has to decide if he'll trust the judgement of the AI and take the throne from the father who loved him and sat at his bedside through his near fatal illness.
