The Rattlesnakes of Mars
Wormsign!
Jerry pointed gleefully out the front of the Scamp's pilot cabin.
No, it isn't,
Brian replied, calmly in command. And they never used that in the books,
referring to the famous fictional Dune series. He nudged the steering to follow Jerry's direction.
It was in the movie!
Jerry grinned. Wormsign!
He pointed again at the puff of fine red dust rising near the tanned horizon.
The original movie was trash, nothing like the first trilogy.
Brian corrected Jerry, meaning the original novels.
So!?
Jerry zoomed their cameras on the disturbance in the distant landscape's surface. At least,
he spoke slowly, half his attention now on the binocular controls, it reached a wider audience, spun out two remakes and a really good version.
He grinned. It got the message of good science fiction out to millions, not like most of Hollywood's trash, and now see where we are!
He waved at the vast sandy red landscape outside the panoramic transparent wall of their cabin. The Dunes of Mars!
Hmmm,
Brian studied the drive controls and forward-mapping displays of their path ahead, and the books, at least the original theme, were based on the ancient Muslim prophecies of the Second Coming.
Really?!
Truly.
Never!
