Two Weeks with T. Rodgers - Jai "OgMadam"
Day One
His Day begins at 4:00 a.m. most mornings.
––––––––
I returned the call but it went straight to voicemail. I waited and cleared three items off my to do list. I finally received a reply text at noon. It was a list of what this Triple O. G. had been doing all morning.
Disclaimer! For the RECORD...Mr. Rodgers hates the term OG, OOG or OOOG. There is more to him than that, so I came up with; God Gifted Griot (Triple G)!

A Real Triple O. G gets more done before 12:00 p.m than a G, OG, and OOG does all day.
And so the idea for documenting a day in the life of a Triple O. G was born.

There are only a few people in life that Truly
have our best interest at heart. You know who you are in my life and this is where I say (Nancy, Janiece, Julian, Tamaran and Keith) I Love You
! And to the 411 club, my sister Donna and her son Tyrone, thanks for being my go to source for translation of all things Urban and Pop Culture. SMH we have the same parents!
Thank you Jackson for reviewing, and the hard read
warning. And to my Cousin Judy and friend Christal whom I met in the S.E.L.F class (Survival Education for Life and Family) 2018, thank you! To Ms. Nikki who reviewed the very first draft OMG that seems so long ago, Thank you.
A special shot out
or is is Shout out
to those I said I would mention in the book Lol. This is your section... especially Florida, North Carolina and Dallas. I know I missed someone just know you are included RIGHT HERE. Yes, all the friendly people I met walking in Baldwin Hills. My kind of LA people.
And finally ...wait for it...
I was blessed to have met THE most important person in my life 35 years ago, my Soulmate Greg. I would never have ventured into Los Angeles if you had not encouraged me to go for it Babe
, you are still young and can accomplish more! Honey, that is exactly what I intend to do. I was so thankful for Nahla Jean and Cassius for keeping you company while I was away despite your
dislike" for dogs. Your story is next on my list.
Grattitude
Foreward
––––––––
The book is written in my voice as I am, who I am. Those who know me, will spot my personality right away. I am very professional articulate and witty. I can also be a complete airhead, not intentionally, I just don’t get Jokes. I am distracted easily and dance like a white girl. I listen to country music, rock and R&B. I have no idea who the rappers are and apparently I missed the whole Jodeci music scene. I have had my Black Card
revoked so many times I believe I have the first official Passbook
. Does this matter? Of course it does!
These short-comings
all played a role in shaping my experience in Los Angeles. This book has been said to shed light on a living legend, for others it provides a glimpse into his world through an outsiders view. As my nephew so eloquently explains, he doesn’t understand why people like me are drawn to that
life. And that is the surprise if any, the discovery of my journey.
Clarification, I wasn’t drawn
to that life, I just happened to step outside of my world, and what a step I took! It’s definitely a different way of living and yes, fascinating to me. So if you read the book before reading this foreward, you probably have the wrong tone and put it down after page 35. However, if you really want to know what it was like having two worlds merge, let me emphasize completely different worlds, that’s how chaotic it was for me. You get a birds-eye view from me, an outsider, into the average day of a man whose life is far more remarkable than I knew.
What I did not capture (Intentionally) was the way we moved throughout each day. Mr. Rodgers gave me complete access to his world which I captured through video and camera. When it came time to select photos for this book, he said my photos capture too much, Grandmother photos, his words.
I took approximately 1500 photos of Mr. Rodgers and anyone he came in contact with, needless to say I do not have permission to share their image.
The most interesting photos that I wish I could share are those of historical figures like A.C. Moses King Babalouie...Piru
and Fred Hampton Jr. Confession... I only knew of King Babalouie from a video my grandson made me watch (which is referred to in this book) and I had never heard of Fred Hampton let alone his son. (Let me hand over my Black card) as there are others and
