    About this ebook

    The purpose of this book is to guide aspiring newspaper reporters in writing the types of stories that their future publication will require of them, and to assist inexperienced reporters and journalists in producing clean, minimal-editing copy. Rather than discussing the reasoning behind the newspaper industry, the focus is on the technical aspect of a reporter's job. Writing ability is considered to be the primary asset of a reporter, and there is no room in this book to delve into newspaper organization, business operations, advertisement writing, editorial writing principles, or newspaper policy and practices. These topics are not relevant to a beginner reporter during the initial stages of their career and will be learned through experience as needed. The reporter's success depends solely on their ability to gather news and write it effectively.
