About this ebook

"A Political Romance" by Laurence Sterne is a satire on ecclesiastical politics intended to support a dean in a church conflict. The story describes a country disagreement between a church lawyer, an archbishop, and a dean. Much in the style of Gulliver's Travels, this book describes Sterne's real thoughts and opinions in a way that is socially acceptable and sets him free of any legal or political scandal.

Sterne’s works include The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, A Sentimental Journey through France and Italy, and the satire A Political Romance (also known as The History of a Good Warm Watch-Coat). Sterne died in 1768 at the age of 54.
