Thomas Spaulding is an ambitious, career-oriented banker who views his personal life through the lens of how it will help him achieve his professional goals. He believes he's on track to get engaged, get married and start a family but is startled when his fiancée, a childhood friend, abruptly dumps him. Thomas goes to the nightclub where she works as a waitress, ready to do whatever he can to get things back on track for the sake of his career.

However, things go awry when he gets drunk and another waitress, Karin, is forced to drive him home. Although Karin is attracted to Thomas's good looks and hot body, she's frustrated by his obnoxious attitude, especially since it causes her to miss out on a night of lucrative tips she dearly needs. Chapter One

Another scotch and soda, sir?

Thomas gave the waiter a weary nod. It occurred to him that not only had he lost track of the number of drinks he’d consumed, he also had no idea how long he’d been sitting at the bar. Not that it mattered because he was prepared to sit and wait however long it took. Lisele had to show up sometime, and he planned to be here when she did.

He also realized that what he’d planned to say to her when she finally put in an appearance had disappeared, along with his drinks and the time. Get it together, he warned himself. Lisele owed him an explanation, and since she wouldn’t respond to voice mails or texts, he had to stake out the club where she worked, Peace Oasis. Maybe tonight he’d finally get some answers as to why she broke off their engagement.

Thomas took a huge gulp of the fresh drink in front of him and wondered if anyone else’s engagement had ever been canceled with the curt text message—

‘Engmnt off. Sry. Fnd sm1 els’

She couldn’t even be bothered to type out a full sentence or use real words. Lisele had always been flaky, but she’d never completely blown him off like this. Did she find someone else or was she telling him to find someone else? After knowing each other since childhood, with their families’ ties going back even further, surely Lisele owed him a more complete explanation for ending their engagement.
