1300 - CONCESIÓN DE LA DEHESA DE LOS CONCEJOS1
Las dehesas son unos acotados destinados al aprovechamiento de los pastos por parte del dueño. Se trata, según D. Ángel Cañada, de una servidumbre, es decir, de una carga que grava sobre un inmueble en beneficio de una persona que no es la dueña del inmueble. Así pues, con la concesión de las dehesas por parte de la Mitra se buscaba favorecer a sus súbditos.
En el año 1300 el Arzobispo de Zaragoza D. Hugo de Mataplana² concede, como gracia especial, a los hombres y a todo el Concilio de Andorra, la dehesa llamada de los Concejos, muy rica en pastos y poblada de pinos maderables³ con la condición precisa de pagar a él y sus sucesores la cantidad de diez sueldos anuales⁴ y poder cortar toda la madera que necesitase para las obras de sus castillos.
Los albalatinos no estuvieron de acuerdo con la concesión y expusieron al Arzobispo D. Lupo, unos 80 años más tarde de concederse, que la dehesa les correspondía a ellos por razón del Alcaidiado, asegurándole que también ellos tributaban por ella con daño grande de su Concilio y Universidad. Sin embargo, el Arzobispo de Zaragoza confirmó en 1381 la donación a Andorra advirtiendo al Alcalde de Albalate que tuviera por firme y observase e hiciese observar y no viniese ni permitiese a nadie bajo ningún pretexto contra este derecho de posesión.
No obstante siguió habiendo conflictos. D. Vicente Bardavíu Ponz narra que en el Archivo de la Mitra existe un expediente sobre corte de madera en esta dehesa, para fondos de la Mitra en Albalate y Almochuel, junto con correspondencia cruzada entre Andorra y el Arzobispo.
Mosén Generoso da a conocer que Andorra negó en alguna ocasión el cortar la madera y que el 13 de Septiembre de 1774 hubo sentencia contra nuestro pueblo autorizando al Arzobispo de Zaragoza cortar la madera que necesitase.
No he podido ver los documentos y poco puedo decir de esto, excepto lo expuesto por D. Vicente Bardavíu en su Historia de Albalate. Lo malo es que no especifica los años de la documentación y no se puede saber si corresponde al mismo hecho o a otro distinto.
