Introduction
I am a Human Resources Administrative Assistant with a higher education institution in Illinois, as well as the Founder and President of Striving Potential Academy, an online teaching website where I design professional development courses for professionals (https://strivingpotentialacademy.teachable.com). I have both my Master and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Robert Morris University, Illinois as well as my associate degree in English and Spanish from Illinois Central College.
I have served as an AmeriCorps service member from 2014-2016 and as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) member from 2006-2008. I am also co-author of the book Role Models: Profiles of Successful African American Professionals in Peoria, Illinois (published in 2008). In my personal time, I enjoy doing word search puzzles, volunteering and watching classic television shows and movies.
This educational guide is dedicated to all individuals who love to travel and who want to learn another language to enhance their speaking abilities within the Spanish language. This book can be a reference guide to my Online Conversational Spanish for Travelers course on my website which includes interactive videos and PowerPoint presentations
Debbie Allen (1950), Director & Choreographer
Born Deborah Kaye Allen on January 16th, 1950 in Houston, Texas, third child of Pulitzer-Prize winning poet Vivian Ayers, and dentist Arthur Allen (her sister is Phyllis Rashad from The Cosby Show). Debbie started dancing at age three and by age four she was determined to become a professional dancer. When her parents divorced, her mother encouraged her and her siblings’ creativity, developing their independence. The family moved to Mexico in 1960 based on a whim from her mother. Debbie later stated that She didn’t know anybody in Mexico, she didn’t speak Spanish. She was looking for another level of experience...I respect that so much.
When the family moved to Texas, Debbie auditioned for the
