Held within an enormous dome, the monolith awaits activation. Foreman, the project overseer named only by his title, watches the culmination of mankind's greatest endeavour shape before him. It is an activation years in the making, having lived on the cold salt lake for the entire duration. No expense was spared in the creation of this monolith, and only the world's greatest minds and builders were even aware of the great machine.
Yet, upon the activation of the monolith does Foreman learn of what they have created.
The Secret Monolith is a short story about mankind's pursuit of technology and being confronted with the unexpected consequences of the blind desire for progress.
Andrew Hunt
Andrew Hunt is a former public servant of two decades, having liaised and collaborated with all levels of Government. He has been instrumental in the implementation of several Government policies, including greening initiatives and working with people with disabilities. He has been an avid writer for over a decade, having had articles published in various outlets covering topics as diverse as automotive, food and travel, videogames and even martial arts. He now turns his energy and passion into being an author, ghostwriter and freelance editor, performing background work for media outlets.

The final pieces are nearly in place,
said the LabCoat who was standing nearby. Her fastidious dedication to enunciating each stage of the construction process was reassuring to the foreman. The enormous object before them, a monolith of steel, filled with all the latest technology, radiated with a cold that refrigerated the massive dome in which they stood.
The dome was the largest construction ever built by the species, a hashing of girders that criss-crossed from the ground, curving ever-upward to a ceiling that seemed leagues away. Foreman and LabCoat stood upon a gantry that was suspended at a height halfway up the monolith in the centre of the dome, allowing them a vantage point from which they
