Alessandra K. Gallagher is an Australian fantasy author, poet, and artist.A finalist of the Cowley Literary Award 2013 for "The Widow's Wail" (what has she done lately?), Alessandra is the author of the Godless Book Series, an epic fantasy series predicted to span 7 novels. She is currently writing a dystopian novel - "The Lesser", due for release in late 2021 if she stops procrastinating and gets on with it. A writer from an early age, Alessandra’s influences include the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe, the Iliad, and T.S. Elliot, and the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, George Orwell, and C. S. Lewis.

She inhaled deeply and the cool morning air rushed into her tight chest. She glanced up at the secret high-tech facility set amongst the sprawling green lawns in the remote Brindabella Ranges, 65kms west of Canberra. The overcast clouds rolled across the mirrored windows like the churning foam of a raging sea at storm. The steely, angular lines of the complex jutted into the sky juxtaposed against the soft landscape of grey gums. Her life’s work lay hundreds of metres below her feet, buried deep within the bedrock.
She entered the vast ground floor foyer and ignored the tingly trepidation of her adrenal glands. Her heeled boots clacked across the white, marble floor at a measured pace, echoing through the sterile foyer.
Commander Noah Hitchens, head of defence operations for the site, stood at the centre of the foyer with a wry smile curling the corners of his lips. Her eyes locked with his, and as she approached him, the Network Operations Interface, NOI, spoke in a pleasant, but
