FIRST DAY - PART 1

第一天——第一部分

The alarm is set for 0700 but I wake up early. It is 6.30. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

闹钟设在7点，但我醒得很早。现在是6:30。我很兴奋，也很紧张。

It’s Monday and today is the day I start my new job.

今天是星期一，是我开始新工作的日子。

I get up and take a shower. Then I have breakfast. I am not hungry but drink some coffee and eat a banana. I make myself a sandwich for my lunch.

我起床并冲了个澡。然后吃早饭。我不是很饿，但还是喝了咖啡，且吃了根香蕉。我做了三明治当作我的午餐。

I go to get dressed. I choose a smart suit and blouse. I look in the mirror. I think I look too formal and change my mind. I find a dark coloured dress and matching jacket and feel much more comfortable.

我穿好衣服。我选了件整洁的西装和衬衫。我照了照镜子。我觉得我看上去太正式了，于是改变了想法。我发现穿上一件深色衣服，搭配一件夹克，感觉舒服多了。

I clean my teeth and put on some make-up.

我清洁了牙齿并上了点妆。

I find my car keys and then check the time, and realise that I am very early. It is 7.15 and I start work at 0830!

我找到了汽车钥匙然后看了一眼时间，意识到现在还很早。此刻是7:15，而上班的时间是8:30。

I decide to leave anyway as I don’t know what the traffic is like at this time. I say goodbye to Peter and Henry.

我还是决定立刻出发，毕竟我不知道现在的交通状况。我向彼得和亨利道了别。

I arrive in good time, at about 0800, park my car in the car park, and make my way to the door of my new office. It takes me 3 minutes to walk there.

我在8:00赶到，在停车场停好车，然后走到新办公室的门口。这花了我3分钟的时间。

I knock on the door. My boss, Janet, comes to the door and lets me in.

我敲了敲门。我的老板珍妮特走到门口，放我进去。

Some people are already working and she introduces me to my new colleagues. She says, This is Sarah. She’s the new office manager.

许多人已经在工作了，她把我介绍给我的新同事。她说：这位是莎拉，她是新来的办公室经理。

Everybody is very friendly and they say Hello, Hi and Pleased to meet you, as I am introduced to them.

Janet shows me where the toilets are, and the kitchen, then she shows me to my desk. I sit down to start work.

珍妮特带我看哪里是厕所和厨房，然后她把我带到我的办公桌前。我坐下来开始工作。

I have a lot to learn and the morning passes very quickly.

我要学很多东，于是这个早上过得很快。

Before long, it is lunchtime. I decide to go to the kitchen to eat my sandwich and make some coffee.

I open my bag and I look inside.

我打开我的包，看了看里面。

I empty out my bag. I look at everything I have taken out. Where is the sandwich?

I look again. Still there is no sandwich.

我再看了一遍，还是没有三明治。

Just coffee for lunch then.

I sit with my coffee in the staff kitchen and look at my phone messages. Lots of friends are sending me good luck messages for my first day in my new job.

我坐在员工厨房里端着咖啡，检查我电话里的留言。很多朋友都为了我新工作的第一天发来祝你好运的信息。

My colleagues start to come into the kitchen in ones and twos and they are all friendly and say hello. They come over to where I am sitting and join me with their lunch.

我的同事们开始三三两两地走进厨房，他们都很友好地打招呼。他们来到我坐的地方，和我一起吃午饭。

They ask me questions about myself, where I live, if I’m in a relationship, what other jobs I have done, and so on.
