About this ebook

Joey has grown up under the shadow of his mother Halle Berry and Isaac Bloom who is given to drinking and sleeping around and doesn’t mould himself into the conventions expected of fatherhood.
But as joey grows up, his perseverance and optimism changed the narrative. He falls in love with a girl in high school but struggles to make his feelings known, thereby his decision to start from the friends’ zone with giant hopes of reaching his quest.
In the second part of the book iMichael retells the story in a charming light, it is no more a flashback but a gentle melancholy and a complex love affair in the 21st century. A novella more like it giving insights into the intricacies of modern romance.
The sunset meant to ignite coolness is broken
The sunset meant to bring togetherness is broken
The sunset meant to summon love is broken

    ACKNOWLEDGMENT

To the Almighty father in Heaven, the greatest author of knowledge and wisdom, for his countless blessings and love.

The completion of this undertaking could have not been possible without the participation and usual assistance of so many people whose names may not all be enumerated. Their contributions are sincerely appreciated and gratefully acknowledged. However, I would like to express my profound appreciation and indebtedness particularly to the following:

Mr. Isaiah Amankwaah; Ms. Joyce Kankam; and Rebecca Aborah for their endless support, kind and understanding spirit that inspired me.

To all relatives, friends and others who in a way or another shared their support, either financially, morally and physically, thank you.

    Excerpts:

    You

From the deepest part of my heart, I whisper your name From the makeup of the streams of my blood, my coronary artery spasm hackneyed

From the untainted soul, I felt an indentation

With my round eyes, I see an enchanter

With my soft hands I feel exuberant even though a cold whistles through my veins

With my two coloured lips doubled to four, I feel flying high My sweetest inamorata, your bosom would forever be my nest

    Black is her

Black with a black spot directly above your lip is simply amazing

Black with a mixed colour lips is beautiful

Black with cute round eyes is charming

    Black with curves is superb

Black with lines around the neck is arousing

    Black is the colour

    Black is the preference

    Black is me

    Black is her

    Bunny Boiler

    You had your chance

    You had your moments

    The time in the world

The smiles and promises To make things work

    And to make them right

    You wished me love everyday

You danced with me in the night

You protected me when I was your own

You kissed my forehead whenever I shed tears

Now, all that I am left with is darkness from your end

You think I’m beautiful no more Hey! Mr. Bunny Boiler Guess what?

    Now I have found love

One that is endless and sweet Now I have found peace

One that is caring and listens

    Now I have found blithe

One that takes my breath away

    The flashback…May 1993 and on

Silence engrossed the likes of all siblings moving their feet by alternately setting each foot forward with one foot resting on the ground always. The walk can even be measured reason being that the first meter of the walk was returned. It was briskly and eventually caused sweats on their skin. Prayers, worrisome thoughts and hopes embraced them as they carry out the event of walking briskly at the entrance of the labour ward. At precisely 12:45 am on 27th, Halle Nelson, a trader smiled to the shrill cry of a baby boy that broke the silence and excruciating pain of labour after a successful delivery. The cry of this baby boy echoed in the maternity ward of the Trinity Teaching Hospital to herald the birth of Joey Bloom, a name his father, Isaac Bloom wanted.

It was mirthful as the doctor informed the uncalm siblings at the immediate entrance of the ward. It was beautiful to see smiles made anew together with hugs. After a while, each one of them retired to rest on the chairs at the visiting room. As daylight gradually proscribed the dark, the joyous siblings awoke from their slumber and after necessary paper work, Halle was discharged. They drove straight to granny's house where Halle and little Joey spent three months before moving back in with Isaac Bloom.

As the days bled into years, Joey grew up quietly as the only son of his parents sandwiched two years later by a sister, Daisy Bloom. Joey made his educational debut as a new enrollment into Reliance Day Care and then to Hollies Kindergarten. He finally completed junior high at Mount Calvary School. Even at such an early stage, Joey had a host of leadership qualities and so earned the positions of class representative in form 1 and 3 and finally became the assistant boy‟s prefect. His early life was unique as it encapsulated diligence, diplomacy, high sense of purpose and more incomparably and inimitably a great sense of responsibilities.

With great brains comes great responsibility, Joey's words to himself.

Meanwhile the love between Halle and Isaac had grown cold. Their relationship was in jeopardy. Isaac won't stop sleeping around and drinking and so resulted into several fights between the couple. This opprobrium made him shirk his responsibilities as a father and so eventually they separated. The strife's of life and the infernal hurdles it breeds came crawling at the doorsteps of Halle Nelson and so affected Joey and Daisy. Things changed, times became extremely tough and so they had to move in with granny who also had a few siblings living with her. As a single mum now, Halle worked relentlessly to make ends meet in order to cater for the family. Isaac had deserted her
