    Jonathan Swift was born in 1667 in Dublin, Ireland. His father died before his birth, leaving him entirely dependent on the generosity of his uncles. Nevertheless, he was well educated and earned a degree from Trinity College Dublin. After the Glorious Revolution (1688-1689) spread religious discontent through Ireland, Swift moved to Moor Park, Surrey with Sir William Temple, a distant relative. He visited Ireland from time to time and was ordained as a priest in 1695. During the 1690s, Swift also wrote his first prose satire, A Tale of a Tub, which was published anonymously in 1704. This
