    PREFACE

House or Housing is a necessary part of every human existence. It is a necessity that cannot be over looked because everyone needs a house or some sort of shelter. Also, some carry on the business of providing this needed shelter to others. If I had this book or a book like this while I was an undergraduate, I wouldn't have been unceremoniously thrown out of my apartment while my rent had not expired. I would have known what to do to prevent it and how to achieve solutions, avoid Tenancy problems and prevent the embarrassment I suffered back then.

This unavoidable human relationship sometimes meets with challenges and problems. A Landlord may have a stubborn Tenant who does not carry out his duties in a Tenancy, also a Tenant may have a Landlord who unnecessarily makes his enjoyment of the rented house impossible. The problems go on and on. This book, analyses the Landlord and Tenant Relationship in a bid to educate the public on what to expect in a Tenancy and the easy ways to avoid problems in the Relationship.

NOTE: This book does not take away the need to consult a Lawyer. It is more like a preventive measure and a first aid treatment to the public, towards handling Tenancy problems.

On the part of Lawyers, who are professionals in this field, this book provides useful information on the Landlord and Tenant relationship and comes in very handy as quick reference.

The book answers important questions as the place of the police in recovery of premises, the issues as to whether a Landlord can throw a Tenant's property out of the Premises immediately his rent expires, whether a Tenant whose rent has expired has the right to continue occupying the premises without paying rent and much more. This book is written in simple English to be understood by everyone since each of us, one way or the other may be involved in Landlord-Tenant Relationship. It provides steps for early prevention and arrest of problems that may arise in Landlord-Tenant Relationship thereby saving money and time for everyone using it. It also provides detailed steps to be taken to recover premises.
