He was educated at Oxford University and Edinburgh University, gaining a Master’s degree in writing, and he initially wrote books for children, often self-illustrated. As well as seeing his own work for children adapted by the BBC, he has also adapted other writers’ work for television. Haddon is a vegetarian, an atheist and a long-time supporter of animal rights.
