About this ebook
The travel guide Lanzarote... in a different way! leads you specifically to the attractions of the multifaceted volcanic island:
In the north from Mirador del Río you have a view of the picturesque neighbouring island La Graciosa with its fantastic sandy beaches. Explore the heart of the earth in the caves Cuevas de los Verdes and observe the worldwide unique albino crabs in the Jameos del Agua.
See over 1000 different cactus species in the Jardín de Cactus and look from the pirate castle Castillo Santa Barbara to the old island capital Teguise.
Visit the Fundación César Manrique, the famous house with the underground volcanic bubbles and don't miss the eccentric property of the actor Omar Sharif, the Lagomar.
From the Farmer's Museum, with the Monumento al Campesino in the centre of the island, head south through the unique La Geria wine-growing region to the Fire Mountains in Timanfaya National Park.
Experience a volcanic eruption simulation at the Timanfaya Visitor Centre, or rock through the breathtaking volcanic landscape on a camel ride. At the Timanfaya Restaurant El Diablo, try the specialities of the lava grill, which is powered exclusively by geothermal energy.
Buy real sea salt on the spot, in the largest salt works of the Canary Islands, the Salinas de Janubio, observe the natural spectacle of Los Hervideros and after the green lagoon Lago Verde set off for a fish meal in the small fishing village of El Golfo.
With the Lanzarote travel guide Lanzarote...in a different way! don't miss any of the popular markets and artisan markets to buy typical souvenirs from the island. They will also tell you where to go shopping, find the island's last basket weaver, purchase authentic Canarian ceramics, see the Jolatero metal boat builders and find the glittering olivine natural stones.
Discover the small, snow-white bays in the north and the golden beaches of the Playas de Papagayo in the south.
Experience all the spectacular sights of the unique island artist in one day on the great César Manrique Tour.
With 4 interesting car tours you discover the fascinating volcanic island on your own: Look at the contrasting north, the northwest, the volcanic, fiery center and the south. Or make a detour to Fuerteventura, the island with its endless sandy beaches.

4 Introduction travel guide Lanzarote
Lanzarote is the smallest of the Eastern Canary Islands and captivates with 300 volcanoes, which are embedded in a uniquely fascinating, contrasting landscape.
To protect the natural beauty of the volcanic island and its cultural heritage, Lanzarote was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO on 07.10.1993.
Thanks to the important island artist César Manrique, Lanzarote was almost spared the serious building sins that took place on the neighbouring islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the 1960s and 1970s. Benefit from his unique commitment to discover the many small white villages and be impressed by his unique work.
Enjoy in the north the indescribably beautiful view from the Mirador del Río to the small picturesque island La Graciosa
Explore the flaming, cooled heart of the Earth in the Cuevas de los Verdes
and discover in the underground lake in Jameos del Agua the unique small, white albino crabs.
Drive to Haría in the valley of 1000 palm trees to stroll through the authentic handicraft market, visit the artist of authentic Canarian ceramics, or watch the last basket weaver of the island at work. Don't miss to visit the Casa Museo César Manrique, the last house of the unique island artist.
In the picturesque village of Guatiza, marvel at the grandiose variety of cacti in the cactus garden, the Jardín de Cactus.
Stroll through the small alleys of the former island capital Teguise, plunge into the grandiose hustle and bustle of the Mercadillo de Teguise, the largest weekly market on the island, or look over the entire island from the Castillo Santa Barbara with the Pirate Museum, the Museo de la Piratería.
In the Museum Lagomar, the house of Omar Sharif, experience architecture like in a fairy tale from 1001 nights and let yourself be fascinated by the Fundación César Manrique, the house with the underground lava bubbles.
Contemporary art can be seen in the ancient Castillo San José with the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporaneo.
Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the island capital Arrecife, stroll along the main shopping street Calle Castillo y Léon, enjoy the breathtaking view from the 17th floor of the Gran Hotel Arrecife at a café, or stroll around the Charco de San Ginés
