About this ebook

Mommy blogs are great . . . unless the blog happens to belong to your mom.

Twin sisters Claire & Poppy are accidental social media stars thanks to Mom going viral when they were babies. Now, as teens, they're expected to contribute by building their own brand. Attending a NY fashion week and receiving fan mail is a blast. Fending off internet trolls and would-be kidnappers? Not so much. Poppy embraces it. Claire hates it. Will anybody accept her as "just Claire"? And what should Claire do about Mom's old journals? The handwritten entries definitely don't sound like Mom's perfect blog persona. Worse, one of them divulges a secret that leaves Claire wondering what else in her life might be nothing but a sham . . .

Claire is counting down the days until she can be done with anything connected to her mother’s “mommy blog” and the brand she and her twin sister Poppy have been building as teenagers. She wants normalcy and privacy in her life, like a relationship with new boy Rafael. As her frustrations grow, Clare discovers there are more secrets in her life than she ever expected. This is a fantastic young adult book. It would be easy to think that someone who grew up with cameras and a sort of celebrity status would just accept things as they were. Just For Clicks offers a balanced view of how that kind of life isn’t all photo shoots and ease.Claire’s frustration of being a teenager are spot on as she tries to figure out her place in the world. She has deep insecurities from childhood trauma, and a feeling of being second best. The story is told from her point of view, keeping us with her through every mistake and triumph. The pace is good. The cast of characters well balanced, none trying to steal the show (excepts those who are, in fact, trying to ruin things).I would recommend this to readers of YA fiction who are looking for a wholesome contemporary tale.
