The Tower
The old tales speak of a time when our gods were still young. In those times it is said that they each kept a physical presence on our plane. All records show them treated as royalty, ruling over their peoples in what was likely an unimaginable utopia. Despite the piece of those kingdoms, however, a man rose to power, finding every corruptible person in all the lands to follow him. The histories are unclear of how, but this man had power that could match the gods themselves. He waged war on those loyal to the gods, recruiting the weak willed, sacrificing those that wouldn’t convert to worship of him. The war on the devout is said to have lasted two lifetimes before the gods themselves worked together to end his reign of terror. Legends say, he was too powerful to be properly killed, so his soul was removed by the gods, taken out of our plane of existence when the gods ascended.
As his tale ends, Antara scans the room of promising new students. He had seen this before, a room of young children in awe, bright eyed and eager to learn.
