    About the Author

    Chapter 1: Lisbon My Foot!

    Lagos, Nigeria.

The content of the note hit Mali with the force of a catapulted stone. Fury dawned on her, about to set her ablaze; and with her emotion set on high gear, her heart began to pound.

She craved for relief; anything to rescue her from the insanity about to engulf her. Then, as if that was it, she dashed a deafening bang on the dressing table she always would pamper. In effect, the resulted surface vibration bounced off the makeup items into the air, sending the gigantic, pink-frame mirror positioned on it into the air and then down to the floor. With a shattering crash, the mirror exploded in a thousand shards and splinters.

Not anywhere near she pounced on her teddy bear. A dozen bites…a score killer-kick… spits… squeezes…drags…murder attempts... Amiss all that, Kenya, her angel-eyes dog, a Caucasian the size of a polar bear, and which never saw its lady in a tantrum, scared to the teeth, took off with the speed of light and leaving one with the impression it went to get a doctor. By the time Mali was done, the cute, fluffy teddy bear had been stripped of its sailor suit, fit and ready for the waste bin. Then, as if she realized she might end up setting the room ablaze, she withdrew to ponder over what next to do.

How on earth could she be expected to do something this contemptible? She will disappoint her feminine instinct and her conscience will hunt her to the bones if she did. The scheme was offensive and very disheartening. A bomb! Falling for it will have unpardonable consequences later on; such that she will never be able to bear. How men have guts. She ran her eyes all over the roughened note on the bed again with utmost irritation.

How does one courier a hazardous thought like this and not be arrested in this country? These things called men. Sons of the devil! And why did the Heavens create them? Were they really worth the time? They should have been packaged as meat, silenced in a silo, high in fat and cholesterol, and declared forbidden! She mused over her silly thought, in between, taking the hundredth look at the purple-ribbon parcel beside the note.

A courier man brought the bunch not too long ago. The parcel contained a diamond necklace and a rose with the magic to make a girl cry. Fine, but she wasn't expecting to unseal a ghost sitting in there with those treasures. The note placed within them was flame paired with gas; too much for her to bear. With disgust, she again kicked hard at Captain, her poor, once-adored teddybear. The thing was, unfortunately, a male.

Then something suddenly dawned on her, making her eyes narrowed with a realization. She must be duly prepared if she was going to fight to win this war. Giving how her libido behaved around him; the way he made her tingle all over and the way he made her nerve endings dance, and more than all of that, the way he made her want him, she just might weaken in his presence as always. And there also was the booty, his resource for breaking into her defense. It was nowhere within the three paragraphs of the note but she was certain it will come. All those realities angered her as they dawned on her like storm clouds threatening an outdoor party. Not having an answer to how not to let them smother her stand, she hissed and pinched very hard on her thigh.

Typically, she would have jumped at the proposition welcomingly. The whirlwind trips and the spending sprees on the best of things a woman loves to have and all that placed on her laps for her take. Every time the opportunity called, it always came with the whole package, and she alone would have all of that to herself. But then, here was a tough one. Something beyond her and she was going to fight tooth, nail, and claw.

She simply couldn’t do as he wanted now. True, she was his for the calling, his free, sassy, urban chick who wore daring miniskirts; his willing vessel, and his good time dinner party girl. But she wasn’t the type to stroll stupidly into restricted territories. So she decided she was going to stand head tall against the whole nonsense! In the end, her incentive will be the peace she will find within her conscience. And that will just be about fine.

She blinked back into the moment. Looking out of the window
