About this ebook

Dark forces are on the rise in this sweeping sequel to The Black Witch by critically acclaimed author Laurie Forest.

Elloren Gardner and her friends were only seeking to right a few wrongs when they rescued a Selkie and freed a military dragon. The last thing they expected was to be thrust into a realm-wide underground resistance against Gardnerian conquest.

While the Resistance struggles to fight back against the harsh rulings of the Mage Council, more and more Gardnerian soldiers descend upon the University…led by none other than Lukas Grey, now commander of the nearby military base. Though Elloren tries to keep him at arm’s length, Lukas is determined to tie himself to her, still convinced that she is the heir to the power of the Black Witch, a legacy of magic that will decide the future of all Erthia. As his own magic calls out to her, seeking to awaken a dark force within, Elloren finds it more and more difficult to believe that she’s truly powerless, as her uncle always claimed.

Caught between her growing feelings for the rebellious Yvan Guriel and the seductive power offered by Lukas, Elloren must find a way to stay true to what she knows is right and protect everyone she loves…even if that means protecting them from herself.

This is by far one of the best books I have read this year. If I could give it 10 stars I would! The Iron Flower by Laurie Forest is the second book in an amazing series, The Black Witch Chronicles, which is about a girl who everyone feels may be the next fabled Black Witch to destroy the land. This book was even better than the first. It was fast paced, emotionally charged (I cried twice!) and also introduces us to new friends and enemies. The emotions drawing her to Yvan become increasingly more complicated as he refuses to let her know about his power and what it might mean he is. Her ties to Lukas become risky as the resistance urges her to use that connection to find out more information to pass to the rebels and her aunts increasing insistence that she wandfast to Lukas is pushing Elloren into dangerous territory that will force her to question her loyalty to her aunt and everything she grew up believing in.

I enjoyed it but feel like there are holes in the story ... Like they seem to be able to travel a half day/. Day in any direction and be where they need to be! But I am enjoying the story over all

This book is a fun sequel, but I found it hard to enjoy because of repetitive events and themes, presented below.
    - Welcome to the Resistance, who solves every problem by calling for help.
    - Elloren thinks about Yvan. All. The. Time.
    - Between the reader and the cast of characters, only Elloren is surprised by anything.
    - Elloren says she is willing to do anything for the Resistance, but she literally refuses to do the only strategic power-play within her ability, i.e. wandfast to Lukas Grey.

Any times that I read a series I find myself forcing to get through the second book in a series, but this 2nd book in The Black Witch series was filled with huge action and lots of explanations and background stories. I found myself flying through this book and transfixed throughout every page!!
I do recommend reading the two Novellas that come out just before this book. It'll help in the understanding of huge plot events.
