About this ebook

My book 'The Tamarind Tree Tales' is a pure dedication to children. They are a gift of God. I believe the wonderful faculties they inherit from childhood becomes invisible after a while. This ignorance and unfortunate neglect leads them into dullness. Creativity and imagination are the key tools to inject these little minds. Through this book I have tried to create the same effect. Its a compilation of short stories which sounds usual. But the human emotion is definitely characterised in each of my characters. Just like the tales we used to hear from our mothers during bed. Fascinating as it seems, each paragraph draws you intensely into the story hidden. So you keep exploring it until you come out with the picture in your hand. I hope my efforts materialise in the right way. Reading should never be taken for granted. So the long run will look "Healthy".

    ACKNOWLEGEMENT

I have been truly inspired to write these stories. The characters bear no semblance to real life. The experiences narrated in the stories are coincidental and have no bearing with real life experiences and are truly fictitious.

I dedicate these stories to my husband and my daughters. Life is a series of events occurring at different intervals in our lives and our interaction with them explains the events and their effect on us. It is this broad spectrum of experiences whether joyful or sad that makes living complete.

    FAREWELL

T he sky was overcast. The clouds had gathered. I stood against the pillar close to my house. I took note of all the boxes that stood in my neighbor’s porch. It was Uncle Harry and his family who were going away.

I ran to the gate to take a closer look at the boxes. A big label read, Mr. Hari Viswanath travelling to Mumbai. If Mr.Viswanath was leaving then the whole family was leaving with him. I ran to their door and rang the door bell. Meghna came to the door. She was wearing a floral dress with lace at the end. Her hair was pulled back to form a high ponytail.

I’m leaving in an hour, she said.

Won’t you at least play for a while? I quipped.

No my father told me to keep a watch over the boxes after I get dressed.

Let’s play stamp then, I rallied.

Only for a while, she said smiling.

I loved to play stamp because I often stamped the pair of similar cards faster than she did. It
