About this ebook

Fishtail was the name of the tiny town where the Boys decided to pitch their homestead shack; they were three high school buddies from Winchester, Kentucky. In 1911, the Boys had stepped off an iron horse in Billings; one hundred years later, author Charles G. Hammond boarded an aluminum bird in Billings for his first trip overseas. Hammond compares and contrasts his and his grandfathers lives in this tale of new adventures.

    INTRODUCTION

T HIS IS A STORY OF four young Montanans: My late Grandfather, SG, The Boys, and me. Winchester lies in the Bluegrass Country, east of Lexington, and just north of Paris. We led strikingly different lives, of course. But there were also similarities. So I’ve accordingly titled my account as the parallels and perpendiculars of our lives. That is because Masons study geometry as a way of building character.

    WESTERLY DREAMING

M Y LATE GRANDFATHER, SG, AND his two high school buddies, The Boys, did many of the same things that my friends and I did on long, warm spring afternoon high school study
