About this ebook
Kay drove from the Commuity Center in a daze. She clutched the tape in her pocket as id her life depended on it. She couldn't imagine the strength it must have taken her grandmother to hold on to this information for eighty years.
Kay knew about the midwives, Melana and Meira, but what she heard on the tape was amazing and scary. She was stunned. "Shit," she said as she threw on the brakes, How was she going...? She needed help. Again Kay wondered if she could do what her grandmother asked. She she have the courage to act?

My name is Rose King. I currently live in Oakland CA. I say currently because although it's been over 30 years since I left that small town in Mississippi on the cusp of the Civil Rights Movement, I plan on returing as soon as I retire which is fast approaching. I am a government accountant. I work for NASA-Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. It is the highlight of my government career. I get meet people who reach the stars, astronauts. I have been in a shuttle pod simulator. I have a BS in Biology-Premed from Alcorn State University. The first time I visisted the morgue as a part of my Human Anatomy class I knew it was not the job for me, so here I am in accounting. I also have AA degrees in journalism and language arts, and a MFA in Creative Writing. Why I write I write to see my imagination on the pages. I write because I hear voices. I write because it keeps me up late at night. I write because it sooths me. I have always written, if only in my head. I write because I would feel naked, it cloths me. I write for understanding. I write to be understood. I write because the journey never ends. I write because my soul is laid bare in the words. I write because I think I am funny and the world is funny. I write when I am sad. I write to God sometimes a little sometimes a lot. I write for answers. I write because the need is great. I write to hide or to liberate me. I write because it's mine.....
