About this ebook
Preparing your House for Sale (Revised) is an updated version of the 2014 edition. Once you put your house up for sale it is no longer your home. You might be living there, but it has become a property that people will be viewing. Those people are not interested in how the space is currently used, they are only looking at it from their point of view: where will they put their furniture and which room will be used for what. Making your house a showpiece can be the answer, but there are other ways of improving your property for sale without having the expense of a stylist changing everything around and renting you replacement furniture. In this book Julie Finch-Scally, The Guru of Cleaning(R) takes you from 'decision to moving', helping you every step of the way.

About Julie Finch-Scally
INTRODUCTION
Unless your home is clutter free, freshly painted and spotless, selling it is not just ringing a real estate agent and getting them to put it on the market, As most homes are overcrowded, could do with a thorough clean and/or a fresh coat of paint; work needs to be done on the property to make it saleable.
Once you put your house up for sale it is no longer your home. You might be living there, but it has become a property that people will be viewing. Those people are not interested in how you use the space they are only looking at it from their point of view: where will they put their furniture and which room will be used for what.
Making your house a showpiece can be the answer, and many people choose to do this, but there are other ways of improving your property for sale without having the expense of a stylist changing everything around and renting you replacement furniture.
Many real estate agents will give you advice on what you should do to prepare for the influx of purchasers they are going to generate, but most are mother-hood statements like: de-clutter, maybe paint a wall, clean the property or make the garden tidy, simple things, none of them too difficult.
This book tells you how to go about getting that saleable look without spending too much money. It will cost and take time, but if the results are favourable and you sell the property quicker than expected then you have been more than recompensed with your effort.
Preparing your House for Sale won’t guarantee your sale will be any quicker. But making your property stand out can only help. If you can get people over the threshold, looking around inside, the agent has more chance of turning them from a tyre-kicker to a purchaser.
What is written in this book I have done myself. It took time but it had a successful outcome. No I didn’t sell my property for thousands more than I had hoped, but I received a fair price and the new owners loved the home. You can’t ask more than that.
The book is set out so relevant chapters can be acted on when required or read from the start to finish. Which ever you choose, I hope you find Preparing your House for Sale enlightening and successful. Good luck!

THE FIRST STEPS
You’ve been discussing the prospects for ages. You’re going to purchase another home. Not sure when, but one day. If you have reached the stage where you are talking about an imminent move, now is the time for you to prepare your property for the sale.
Most people when they think about changing homes usually fantasize about the property they are going to purchase. Very little thought is given to the one they are going to sell. As you can’t do one without the other, unless you are extremely wealthy, initially the sale should be given more attention than the purchase.
Once you have a buyer for your property, then and only then should you be looking at another place to buy. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t view properties in the areas where you want to live to check out the size and type of home you would like, but finding your dream home before you sell leads to problems. Should you find the dream home, wait until you have sold before putting down the deposit.
The best way to prepare for the sale of your property is by doing your homework. Look at other properties for sale.
