Die Veröffentlichung von Heideggers frühen Freiburger Vorlesungen hat in den letzten zwanzig Jahren eine große internationale Resonanz erzeugt. Die im Rahmen der II. Abteilung der Gesamtausgabe edierten Texte wurden von der Heidegger-Forschung in erster Linie als wertvolles Material zur Erhellung der Entstehung von Sein und Zeit benutzt. Als besonders aufschlussreich erwies sich der auf dieser Grundlage rekonstruierte geistgeschichtliche Kontext, der Bezüge zum Neukantianismus, zu Lebensphilosophie und Phänomenologie offengelegt hat. Der vorliegende Band geht von den Leistungen dieser ersten Rezeptionsetappe aus, um einen neuen Deutungsansatz vorzuschlagen. Die heideggersche „Hermeneutik der Faktizität“ wird hier als ein eigenständiges philosophisches Vorhaben aufgefasst, dessen Originalität bereits in der eigens geprägten Begrifflichkeit zum Ausdruck kommt. Durch die Analyse und Rekonstruktion der vielfältigen Grundthemen wollen die Beiträger des Bandes die begriffliche Signatur von Heideggers früher Philosophie herausarbeiten. So soll nicht nur deren Eigentümlichkeit, sondern auch und gerade ihre noch nicht ausgeschöpften Möglichkeiten diskutiert werden.
