Author

John U. Hanna

A Palestinian Christian who first lost his land to the Israelis, then lost his trust in his fellow countrymen when they deviated from the nationalist approach of fighting for a homeland, and instead adopted a religious ideology based on hatred for all non-Mulims regardless of nationality.

    PUBLIC SCHOOLS EMBRACE ISLAM-A SHOCKER

(Italic excerpts are copied from Islamreview.com)

STUDENTS ASKED TO FAST RAMADAN IN PUBLIC SCHOOL

In the year of the Lord 2001, a public school in Covina, California, (Royal Oak Intermediate School) sent a letter to parents asking their permission to have students fast for one, two or three days during Ramadan. After the fast the students are to type 1/2 page summary of their experience. The letter said that this is an extra credit assignment and that it is not mandatory.

    Actual letter from school to unsuspecting parents;

    ROYAL OAK INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

    World History Mr. Cesene

    Dear Parents or Guardian,

As part of the world history curriculum, your student has recently been studying the rise of Islam and the teachings of Mohammed. Fundamental to the Muslim religion are the Five Pillars of Islam. They emphasize the word of God, prayer, charity for the poor, fasting and the pilgrimage to Mecca. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims refrain from food or drink during daylight hours.

In an attempt to promote a greater understanding and empathy towards the Muslim religion and toward other culture, I am encouraging students to participate in an extra credit assignment. Students may choose to fast for one, two or three days. During this time, students may only drink water during daylight hours.

Once fasting is completed, students are to type a 1/2 page summary of their experience. They should describe how it felt to go without food during the day and connect it to the theme of sacrifice. Fasting is inconvenient and sometimes uncomfortable, many religions to consider it an important sacrifice.

I wish to emphasize that this is an EXTRA CREDIT assignment and is by no means mandatory. For those unable to fast, they may choose to type a 2 page paper in which they compare different religions that encourage sacrifice during the year. I give my son or daughter permission to fast for one, two or three days.

Final papers for either project are due by Wed. November 26th.

    ANOTHER SHOCKER!

    By Reverend Austin Miles

    Special to ASSIST News Service

    Wednesday, January 9, 2002

BRENTWOOD, CA (ANS)—As children return to school this week, following the Christmas break, 7th graders in a growing number of public schools, who are not permitted to wear a cross or speak the name of Jesus, will be required to attend an intensive three week course on Islam; a course in which students are mandated to learn the tenets of Islam, study the important figures of the faith, wear a robe, adopt a Muslim name and stage their own Jihad.

We feel that this is part of a well thought-out plan by Muslims to indoctrinate Islam into the impressible minds of our children. It started by teaching the Islamic religion to students as part of History and Culture. Now, they want our children to actually practice Islamic rituals. What will be next?

We must strongly protest this ongoing plan for the Islamization of America through infiltrating the educational system. If Christians and Jews are not allowed to practice their faith in public schools under the principle of separation of Church and State, how could Muslims be allowed not only to practice Islam in schools but to push it on other students?

    Reflections by the author:

Despite the Monkey Trial, the Islamization of America has just begun. Lady Liberty better watch out. Soon you may be veiled.

    DEDICATION

The thought behind the title of this book was inspired by a conversation I had with my aunt while visiting my family in Jordan in 1998 to see my ailing father. I had left Jordan to the United States in 1968 right after high school to pursue higher education. I am proud of being American, a naturalized American. I have spent all my adult life here and the values I have is a reflection of what I was taught as a child, coupled with the learning and experiencing of new freedoms to which I was not familiar with prior to 1968.

The conversation with my aunt was punctuated with her view that America’s greatness has started to decline. This statement surprised me since I knew that my aunt had nothing but love and respect for the U.S. and what it stands for. After all, she had two sisters and two brothers who had migrated to America and who had succeeded in assimilating and who would never think for one second to, in any way, degrade life in the US.

When I asked my aunt what she’d meant, her reply was you have cancer in America. You have hard-line Muslims in America and you have not seen their destructive actions yet. The cancer they spread is not of the benign type, but of the malignant type, that spreads slowly and eventually destroys the host cells. I realized that, having lived in Syria for over 50 years, she had experienced the hatred the radical Syrian Muslims had towards others who did not share their views or faith. Her comment was a statement of concern rather than of hatred.

Her words did not strike a chord until the September 11, 2001 events when I realized that my aunt was prophetic in her prediction. The Radical Muslim Fundamentalists do not promote cancer in America alone, but in their own countries and the rest of the civilized world as well. They aim to destabilize any regime, which in their view, is not totally dominated by the literal interpretation of the passages of the Koran or al Sharia’.

My thanks to you my aunt for you were right.

    IN MEMORY

I must also give thanks to the memory of my grandmother, the most pious woman I had ever known. I clearly remember her kneeling on the front porch of our home in my hometown in the West Bank of Jordan (Palestinian Authority now). Every morning she silently prayed for all her children and grandchildren, for her friends and neighbors, Christians and Muslims alike. She was admired by, the entire town, for her compassion and help to the many Muslim refugees who had left their homes in Palestine in 1948. My grandparents were the only family in town who allowed refugees to settle on their land and build simple homes for protection from the elements.

    FORWARD

When I discussed with my Christian Arab friends the idea of writing a book which exposes the danger of radical Islam, my friends’ responses warned me of consequences similar to those faced by writer Salman Rushdie— a fatwa or a death warrant by the leaders of the Islamic umma (nation). Some warned that I must hide or go under ground; some said to print under a pseudonym, while others flat-out said not to write anything for fear of reprisal.

The more often I heard these comments, the more I was convinced and compelled to expose the religious ideology that have generated so much fear in the hearts of those who dared to disagree with its underlying principles. I was determined to expose what would otherwise go unchecked and would be uncontrolled thus manifest the fear into destructive acts. The sad fact is that the multitude of people who wanted Mr. Rushdie’s blood, never even bothered to read his book. Uninformed and lacking insight, they just embraced the call for Rushdie’s blood on the mistaken assumption that the illiterate mullahs, who commanded the call for his blood, had perhaps read his book. This assumption is purely hypocritical because none of the Mullahs, or the bloodthirsty common public, could have even understood the meaning of the so-called Satanic Verses. I did.

Even with all these thoughts, I refrained because of the respect and deference I had for my Muslim moderate friends. It wasn’t until I visited the local public library to check out a book written by Ram Swarup, titled " Understanding the Hadith" that I was awakened to powerful realizations. I checked out that book several more times, but did not quite finish reading it, until I finally had to return it so that others may also share in the joy of reading it. After a few weeks I returned to the library to check this book out one more time, only to find that it was no longer listed in the library computer, as if it had never existed! After repeated inquiries, I learned that the book was returned in such bad condition. The borrower claimed a dog mauled it, thus the library decided to remove it from the shelf. I immediately suspected that the book had not been mauled by a dog, rather because it in fact contained translations of the preaching of the Prophet Muhammad, which must have been found offensive to some radical Muslims, that they (or he) decided to call for its removal from the library shelves. This was the deciding factor that compelled me to write this book.

It is a known fact that the Muslim Fundamentalists, through the support of Saudi Arabia, had spent hundreds of millions of dollars in the last few years to stock the U.S public libraries with pro-Muslim books which detail the virtues of Islam while concurrently never allowing any pro-Christian literature to enter Saudi Arabia. Yet, when a great book detailing the Hadith (sayings) of the Prophet Muhammad finds its way to the library shelf, it is immediately destroyed to prevent it from exposing the ugly truth about the radical part of the Muslim (or Moslem) religion. The act of destroying a book is a violation of civil liberties and undermines the freedom of thought that is enjoyed by everyone in our democratic society, including the self-righteous radical who carried out the book’s destruction in the first place. This act clearly shows the great extent of the spread of the radical Muslim cancer and the religious bigotry, which seeks to destroy the freedoms we all enjoy in these Untied Sates.

    9 / 11

The events of September 11th, to paraphrase a great man, will go down in infamy, as the day that virtually exposed radical Islam and its evils to the world. Historians now have another historical marker by which to measure time. Major historical events will still use the birth of Christ as the start date of modern historical events, yet, any events related to terror and/or wars will from now on, use 9/11 as a point of reference.

The events of September 11 shocked the conscience of the civilized world but not that of majority of the Muslim World. Except for those who are modern and pro-Western, King Abdullah of Jordan, and maybe the supposedly secular Turkish government, and the leaders of secular Malaysia (which has been the unfortunate target for Radical Islam’s relentless attacks), no Muslim leader had expressed any outrage at the 9/11 events nor had promised to take immediate action against any lurking terrorist cells in their own countries.

In the Untied States, either for lack of knowledge of the hatred many Muslims hold for Christianity and the West, or for political reasons and fear of inciting the Muslim masses in the Middle East, President Bush immediately took to the air and repeatedly broadcasted caution against any reprisals to the Muslims or Arabs living in America. Bush’s alerts represent the highest form of tolerance, which sadly, the Muslim people had never understood, nor emulated. The President’s repeated appeals that Islam is a religion of Peace and Tolerance were well intentioned, but far from the truth. Had any group of Christians committed such an atrocity in any Muslim country, the entire Christian population of that country more than likely, would have been erased from the face of the earth, and the Christians of the Muslim world would have been either massacred or persecuted by ordinary mobs. Not a single Muslim leader would have come to their assistance, or would have publicly objected, for fear of being assassinated or causing insurrection.

The president’s cautions and willingness to prosecute offenders who might seek revenge on any Arab or Muslim living in America, is an exemplary lesson that should be replicated by the leaders of many Muslim countries like Pakistan and Egypt, where Christians are systematically persecuted for their faith.

The fear of reprisals by the Muslim masses against their governments, though well documented in the violent history of the Muslim World, is over exaggerated in today’s World. On the other hand, the fear of reprisals of the radical Muslims is a reality that must be dealt with, not only by the Muslim nations’ leaders and the leaders of the West, but most importantly by the nominal Muslim masses who disagree with the radicals. These Muslim masses who have suffered, from the oppression of their rulers and the radicalized form of Islam, and who are easily manipulated by Friday prayers that are run by the Radical mullahs, must speak up. They must rise up against the radical extremist elements who have no concept of democracy or secularism and understand only two things; the language of (Al Hajjaj) Yusef al Thaqafy, who in 780 AD Iraq, promised to cut off the heads of insurrectionist, as easily as picking ripe figs off the trees; and the resolve of El Cid in Spain, who vowed to fight the Muslim occupiers and whose legendary heroics sprouted the roots of the struggle that ended up in reclaiming all of Spain for the Spaniards.

Had El Cid still lived, the stories he could tell would have inspired more vigilance on the part of the Christian nations, which would have prevented this attack. As with the resolve and determination of El Cid, America vowed to combat radical terrorism and radicalism no matter what religion it hid behind. I can only guess that if there is life after death, al Hajjaj al Thaqafy must now be frowning, while El Cid smiles.

    INTRODUCTION

The contents of this book are categorized into three historical dimensions: Islam Now, Islam Then, and Islam Tomorrow.

Islam Now covers the period from the late forties when most Muslim nations gained independence from the European powers to the time of the World Trade Center disaster.

Islam Then covers the period from the beginning of Islam in the 7th century to the end of WWI when the Ottoman Empire, the last bastion of Islam, lost its power and leadership of the Muslim World.

Islam Tomorrow covers the period after September 11, 2001. It discusses the immediate reactions of the Muslim Nations and their anticipated course of future events. Islam Tomorrow will touch on the bitter realities that face many Muslims and what is needed to promote a healthy religion that decries violence and promotes peace, harmony and peaceful co-existence, with border sharing neighbors, and non-Muslim countries. This book will not cover the time period between WWI and end of WWII. Ironically, this is the only time in the history of Islam, from the time of Muhammad to this date that Muslims (while under foreign power occupation) lived in peace and harmony with their neighbors and with each other. This applies to many Arab and Muslim nations, whom, after independence, went into war either with other Muslim countries or with their non-Muslim neighbors. Examples of these conflicts are the constant state of antagonism between countries such as Egypt and Yemen; Egypt and Jordan; Egypt and Saudi Arabia; Jordan and Syria; Libya and Chad; Morocco and Algeria; Somalia
